I don’t eat any soy. Back when everybody said drink soy milk, eat tofu, etc
I just couldn’t handle it. It would lay like cement in my stomach and give
me a low grade fever. No soy for me thank you.

HB Challenge

Sunday, July 31st, 2005

Susan, count me in. I even have everyone (from the last
challenge) still listed on IM. I hope I manage to do better this
time. Last time, my body must have been detoxing because I felt
terrible the whole time.

More on Wendy’s Migraine (BILTONG IS ENRAGED!!!)

Saturday, July 30th, 2005

Well,
I was cruising past my local Wendy’s today and thought of Joyce, so I
went in for a little “field research.” Boy was that scary. Anyway, I
got a copy of their nutrition facts, and I was wrong about the MSG.
Fortunately, I was able to uncover many other culprits in our search for
the source for your migraine. I will list the ingredients, and let
Thomas, Axel, and anyone else who wants to tear them up.
Mandarin Chicken Salad - (Iceberg, Romaine, Spring Salad Mix, Mandarin
Oranges, Diced Chicken)
Roasted Almonds
Crispy Rice Noodles
Oriental Sesame Dressing
Mandarin Oranges - Mandarin Oranges, Water, Sugar, Citric Acid (flavor
protector).
*Of course oranges of any kind are avoids, but you probably knew that.*

Amy: BMI

Saturday, July 30th, 2005

Hi Amy,
I computed your Body Mass Index (BMI). When I have a little more time this
weekend, I can explain BMI to the list, for those who are not familiar. For
now, I will just tell you that I came up with a BMI for you of 23.01. A
range of 19 - 24.9 is considered normal, 25+ would be overweight.
That is not to suggest that you should just “quit yer bitchin” about the
weight. It is especially interesting that you said you “feel heavy”. I used
to get that all the time, before I started ER. I almost never feel that way
anymore. It did take about 4 months before I started losing weight, but I
stuck with it because I did feel better immediately.
Thank you for giving us your history again. We WERE paying attention when you
first posted it, but it’s hard at the beginning to know what will be
relevant. I don’t know that I’d say you are a “yo-yo” dieter, because your
weight has mainly stayed in a narrow range. Rather, it appears you have gone
through several phases, or lifestyle changes, as most young people would

Wendy’s Migraine

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005

salad isn’t on their website. “Sesame seed dressing and rice noodles” seem to
me to be likely candidates for sneaking in some MSG, a sure-fire migraine cause.
If I were you, I’d stay away from “fast food” (ever read Fast Food Nation?). I
haven’t been there in over a year.Cheers,Mr. Research ;) Actually yes I am wondering why I got a 5 day migraine. The only thing new in my
diet was the salad. My husband bought one for lunch just do I could read the
ingredient list. It isn’t there! I wonder about the mandarin oranges. Plus there
were some things in the dressing I have never heard of.
I usually do stay away from fast food and this episode is something I won’t
forget - maybe ever! I never even heard of the book Fast Food Nation. Now I am
interested..
O I got my secretor status kit on Friday , but was to sick to send it in. Has
anyone had the results sent snail mail or can you copy the result from a web
page ? I don’t know where to look on a web page,,but then the way my head feels
it’s a wonder I can even think.

Amy: keeping your log

Tuesday, July 26th, 2005

Hi Amy,
That is great that you’ve decided to keep a log. I will be happy to look at it,
and I’m sure lots of others on this list will help as well. We can get you off
this plateau, for sure.
Could you please send your height and weight to the list (I know you did it
before, sorry). I want to compute your BMI (Body Mass Index).
