Doctors and the people who hate them

I read some of the posts about doctors, both physicians and psychiatrists. I do
not hate doctors, but then I do not expect them to offer me a cure, or good
health. In our society, doctors treat SYMPTOMS. If you are in pain, they will
give you something to alleviate that. If something is broken, they will fix it.
Our medical establishment does not concern itself with wellness. Doctors treat
your immediate pain or injury, and that is all. If you have access to a nurse
practitioner, they will have a different outlook, and will be trained to treat
the PERSON who has the disease or injury, but still, you will only get
immediate, or topical, treatment.
This list seems to be people who are all searching for an understanding of
optimal health and wellness; we seek knowledge and support. There is so little
written in our culture, we must be proactive and search out the Dr. D’Adamos,
websites, books, helpful lists, alternative practitioners, such as naturopaths,
etc.
I do not consider this to be an intelligent use of our society’s resources, and

it is appalling the amount of mis- and DIS- information that circulates to the
public, resulting in many people suffering needlessly.
But there is no point hating the doctors. They went to school, they worked
hard, they think they learned the right things, they think they learned all
there is to know. They even think they are helping people most of the time!
Our entire society needs to re-orient itself to an entirely different concept of
health and wellness, and the individual responsibility and commitment this will
require. Dr. D’s books are written for this audience, but as we frequently
discuss, the drug and food companies have much to lose, and they can easily
outspend and attack his ideas. I think it will take a long time to achieve the
needed change.
