Meringue Cookies–source and recipe

Friday, May 20th, 2005

Hi everyone!
My local grocer carries a brand of meringue cookies called Miss
Meringue. Address is 1709 La Costa Meadows, San Marcos, CA 92069.
Ingredients in the crunchy chocolate variety are: sugar, egg whites,
alkalized defatted cocoa powder. They are light and crunchy–about 20
calories for each cookie. Below is an old favorite recipe which could
be adapted to make ones similar–just use cocoa instead of chocolated
and leave out the nuts.
Chocolate Topped Meringue Cookies
2 egg whites
one-fourth teaspoon salt
one teaspoon vanilla
one-eighth teaspoon cream of tartar
two-thirds cup sugar
one ounce block of unsweetened chocolate, grated

Sorry to post so much on this, but being new to beef, it concerns me.
Another excerp from the health list I subscribe to:

Recently I have received several emails from those claiming that Mad
Cow disease is indeed in the USA. These were not the typical
activist baloney, rather thoughtful people who are concerned. One
physician wrote that a patient’s Mother had suddenly died in a
Florida hospital. . . of a brain tumor, which does normally cause a
rapid demise. They were suspicious and ordered an autopsy. It
revealed Mad Cow disease!
The attending physician privately confirmed that he had 13 such cases
which he was obliged, under orders, to diagnose as a brain tumor or
Alzheimer’s disease.
If there is infestation in the USA, disclosing it publically would

Negrita on Beef… from www.negritajayde.com
REASONS WHY RED MEAT BUILDS BETTER MUSCLES
I love beef. It tastes great. Makes me stronger and best of all, it’s
nutrient-dense while low in fat. I guess you could call me a beef buff. However,
during my travels as an iron-pumper, I encountered people who wince at the very
mention of beef.
When I ask them why, they typically furrow their brows and reply, “It’s too high
in fat.” I never gave it much thought until recently, when the prevalence of
beef’s bad rap was made very clear to me during a seminar I held. About halfway
through, I made this request: “Raise your hand if you feel beef has no place in
a calorie-restricted diet.” With the kind of enthusiasm you’d expect at an Amway
meeting, over 50% of the people raised their hands. Try to picture the situation
for a moment. Here I was, more defined than anyone in the room, eating beef
almost daily, and over half of my well meaning albeit misinformed audience was
telling me beef was bad on a diet. So I decided to seize the moment. I took off

Liver Lovers Rejoice!

Thursday, May 19th, 2005

The following is an article I found in a forum…]
Back to Basics - Help your Liver metabolize Carbohydrates”
Now that most of us are getting back on track after enjoying the holiday season
of homemade carbohydrate goodies, I thought you’d like to learn how to help your
body detox itself naturally. Most people think they have to “fast”, avoid all
carbohydrates, or follow a specific “diet” in order to accelerate their body’s
ability to detox but that’s not true. Most of us don’t realize the importance of
a healthy liver and how it can make weight loss/management easier, as well as
deliver increased energy and health.
Help Your Liver
The liver is the busiest and probably the most unappreciated major organ in the
body. Actually, it is THE primary organ for nutrient assimilation, production of
essential chemicals, and detoxification.
Due to our own neglect, well over 25 million North Americans have chronic liver
problems, making liver toxicity one our leading health conditions.

Texas chocoholics beware!

Thursday, May 19th, 2005

I was shopping today, and stopped by Central Market for a few things
that I can’t get at Sun Harvest Farms. I was strolling by the bakery
department, and thought I’d ask about gluten/wheat free breads. They
have a nice spelt loaf. I got one to put in the freezer, for the
occasional piece of toast. Anyway, the baker was very nice, and asked
if I had tried the chocolate crisp cookies. I reminded her about
wheat and added dairy to the avoid list. She just smiled and said to
follow her. They are great! These cookies have very few ingredients:
sugar, pecans, egg whites, cocoa powder and salt. It’s amazing! I
wish she had NEVER showed them to me! If I can get the recipe, I will
post it. I hate myself for being so weak with chocolate… I will NOT
buy them often. I will NOT buy them often. I will NOT… <smile

Mad Cow?

Thursday, May 19th, 2005

This is from a health mailing list I subscribe to. I’m pretty sure
chondroitin is an avoid for Os, but what about the Mad Cow concerns?
Since I never ate beef before, I never even thought about it. Should
I/we, since it’s my major animal protein, now? I’m pretty sure all
the beef I get is raised in Texas. And being fed organic grains (I
know, not the best) & grass fed, it should be fine. Right?
E Long
<snip
As you know we rejected 25,000 bottles due to not meeting our
specifications of Oriental chondroitin. We will NOT use anything
from European cows.
We have received several emails which suggest that Mad Cow disease
may be a much bigger threat than our government will tell us.
Several other emails suggested that this may be worse than we know.
The most disturbing email was this one.

cauliflower and cabbage

Wednesday, May 18th, 2005

<< My ND (who follows general principles of ER but is not into details) has
recommended Indole- 3 -carbinole to balance the estrogens to help prevent
Breast Cancer recurrence. I-3-C is from cruciferous veggies. Now, broccoli is
fine for me - as an O nonnie - but think that cauliflower and cabbage are
not. This product I have is derived from cabbage and since it is a
derivative, it may or may not be OK. Also it smells awful! Even after I take
it.
According to the encyclopedia:
Cauliflower is an avoid for all O’s and cabbage is an avoid for O - Ns
Indole - 3 - Carbinole
Blood Group-Specific Beneficial Effect
Group A & Group AB= Cancer Prevention and Chemotherapy Adjunct
Primary Action - Compounds found in cruciferous vegetables like cabbage,
Brussuls sprouts, caulifolower, collards and broccoli help to transform
dangerous estrogeninto more benign forms. SHown to stop the growthof breast

beef & greens

Wednesday, May 18th, 2005

I must say, since Axel’s rants about carbs & protein, I’ve cut way
back on eating sw pot with meat. Wed night, I had a shoulder steak
with spinach, and last night a beef stir fry with spinach, a crumbled
nori sheet and sprinkled dulce and kelp. Yum!
E Long
P.S. I found the crushed nori will thicken the juice. Really nice.
