Tartrazine / MSG

Saturday, May 28th, 2005

Quite an important factor is time, I know. It is, for me too, but I try
to buy everything in its natural form. It will not contain any kinds of
additives. (It will require some more time to transform it into food.)
My elder daughter had serious problems caused by colourants -two
years ago now - then we broke with this sort of staff.
(I don’t remember if tartrazine was among them or not.)
MSG is an avoid for everybody except O non-secs (I don’t
remember having seen tartrazine listed anywhere) so if you trusted
Dr.D’s findings on other items, why not accept what he says about
this one.

B-12

Saturday, May 28th, 2005

<<Dr. D’s encyclopedia mentioned taking B12 before bed
Funny - the woman at Whole Foods told me NOT to take it before bed because
it will energize me and I won’t be able to sleep!

this message for “redsilas”
I was a veegie for 30+ yrs thinking I too had
an “allergy” to meat.
I have been on ER since Sept 2001, eating meat daily
now.
What my “allergy” was: grains and white
potatoes….which I ate when I ate meats!
I have lost my “pot belly” regained energy and would
suggest you try to tough it out for a while.
There are others in this program who will give you
similar advice and support when needed.
Make sure you have the books and read them.
I feel great and have been told I look like I’m about
38yo (I am 52)….and last year I looked 60+ before
doing this ER4YT regime.

Sleeping Problems

Friday, May 27th, 2005

My husband is also an O but doesn’t want to follow the diet as religiously as I
am. He regularly cheats on wheat and dairy. He has been suffering with
sleeping problems as long as I can remember. Sometimes it is worse than other
times. The strongest sleeping aid available doesn’t even make him sleep
through. It is as if he has a resistance to any medication. What can we do to
alleviate this. It is driving both of us crazy!

Losing commitment

Friday, May 27th, 2005

I keep hearing cut out all grains, and limit the fruits (and nuts?)
if you want to lose weight. I must admit, I wanted the weight to come
off more quickly, but I’m more energetic and feel better. I need to
exercise more vigorously and regularly, and I know it will come off
more quickly.
I went from eating poultry 2-3 times a week to eating beef and eggs
almost daily, more fish and less poultry. I just started making
myself buy HB veggies I’ve never tried before (I take the O food list
booklet shopping with me). Just read the posts and try some new
stuff. I just made the lamb stew in the file. It’s pretty tasty. I
roasted a leg of lamb over the weekend. My first ever. It was YUMMY!
I especially loved the crispy ends. Mmmm… left it at my dad’s so he
can have left overs. I eat hard boiled, scrambled, or poached eggs
for breakfast almost daily. Left over pot roast for lunches. Broiled,
grilled or roasted meats for dinner. The occasional tuna & home made

dried egg protein, yolks and toxicity

Thursday, May 26th, 2005

This post is for Ryan and Thomas Dekany in particular.
My fear is toxic residues in the egg-white protein powder, it is this
line of reasoning that provides the impetus to purchase more
expensive unflavored egg-protein powder from “healthy” chickens over
cheaper commercial egg-protein powder with potential for unlisted
nasty stuff.
Thomas: can you please explain why we should opt for organic egg-
protein powder? I am aware that salmonella gets into eggs now, but
that it is destroyed with pasteurization and the process of turning
it into powder form, but what about the disgusting residues found in
chickens and their eggs? Is it really concentrated enough in
the “fat” of the egg to make the albumin (white) safe enough not to
be concerned? If it is really concentrated in the yolk, which is the
fatty portion of the egg, would the yolks of organic eggs be safe
enough to request a special blend of extra cholesterol egg-protein

heart trouble

Thursday, May 26th, 2005

Hi O’s! My “A” father recently had an angioplast for two blockages in valves
leaving his heart… they successfully unblocked one but couldn’t get the
2nd one. Can anyone recommend anything he might be able to do
nutritionally? Know red wine’s a good choice but he doesn’t drink alcohol.
Could astringent drinks, fruits, vinegar help break down the blockage?
Any ideas? thanks so much! and my apologies for always asking q’s ! Love
Leslie Ps. Thomas, I gave him your suggestions of Hawthorn, ginger…thanks!

Menstrual

Wednesday, May 25th, 2005

Hello all;
We’ve talked about some intimate issues before so I’m really hoping it will be
okay with everyone
for me to explain this problem.
I use a contraceptive method called Depo-Provera. It is an injection, Progestin
based (not Estrogen).
It is really wonderful. I get this injection every 3 months in my hip and I have
no period, no cramps,
no PMS, no crazy emotions. Additionally, I don’t have the headaches, anxiety,
hunger etc that went
along with Estrogen-based methods like the pill.
So all was wonderful– I was on the Depo for a year, then off for three, then
got back on about a year ago.
Great stuff.
On Thanksgiving weekend I gave up all grains cold turkey, a week or so later I

STOOL TALK/Axel

Wednesday, May 25th, 2005

Even though you are right in what you write in your essay on stool,
and even though we are open minded, you see the great number of
responses…
Of course we can discuss anything that is interesting for most of us,
but this is one of the topics associated with some negative aspects…
(Hence traditionally stigmatized as taboo as you know.)
Whether I will ever meet you or not is not really a question,
I would need a really intimate relationship with somebody to discuss
it.
Well, keep on experimenting with those veggies, keep on inspecting
the result if you wish. There’s no harm in it. But please don’t
report unless it is something extraordinary…
