us, at one time or another, fall ‘prey’ to) that anyone is going to find the
golden key that unlocks the truth for all of us… While we can all help
each other, there is not consistent sameness to be found among people, even
of the same blood type. So, while there is a valued and respected body of
research coming form the blood type theory, we all still have to find out
own way.
A note of caution for us all: there will not be any ultimate answers! we
do our best when we truly plumb that which is best for ourselves, and share
our theories, findings, musings, ups and downs….
Individuality has been shown to sustain itself beyond the realm of blood
type/secretor status, etc.!<<
Axel here: I hope I never give the impression that I’m presenting the BTD
as a cure-all absolutely correct diet. Before 9/11 on the BB at Dr. D’s site
he had a picture of a fingerprint, this was (I heard) a reminder that we are
all individuals, not two people are alike. Given the other blood-type
distinctions (rh values, MM, tribal sub-types etc. etc.) and he states this
explicitly in the beginning of CR4YT… good to keep in mind for people who
read BTD stuff everyday of their lives! We should also keep in mind that
many different physiological changes can take place when a new, different
and hopefully superior diet is adopted by a person, especially if they are
in a state of ill-health. So, even our individual differences,
complications, sensitivies, intolerances, weaknesses, etc. can change over
time so that what was once true in our lives, dietarily speaking, is no
longer true, enabling us to eat foods or quantities of foods we couldn’t
previously… Know what I mean? Individuals can undergo dramatic
transformations, with strengthening and newfound sensitivity that changes
our relationship to the foods we eat/ate can now eat.

Ann: And a graceful transition from stored body fat to fuel for immediate
use. I am wondering when I am eating low carb if I am therefore not making
glycogen stores…Really don’t understand all this…therefore my fuel
supply goes directly from what is in blood stream to stored fat and that is
why it is a bumpy transition. As a matter of fact, when I am having sugars,
my body starts to screan as soon as they run low but when I don’t have

Axel here: You are correct, when you are on a low-carbohydrate diet you are
not making glycogen STORES, that is, you are not making enough glycogen (the
stored form of blood-sugar: glucose) in any significant amount. You’ll
notice in my recent post on fats (did you read the WHOLE THING?!?
that
certain brain cells require glucose to operate effectively, I’m sure there
are more cells than some of those brain cells that require or prefer
glucose, but this is a non-issue becuase the body, when deprived of carbs is
quite capable of synthesizing glucose on its own, I’m sure us Os are even
more predisposed to this, given our recommended diet and everything…
possibly some of the carbo-cravings that linger after the insulin havoc is
this brain adaptation?
Axel again: quoting Ann:

You’re wording is a little unclear to me, please rephrase if I’m
misinterpreting… fuel supply, are you talking about carbs (glucose) or
fatty acids? Carb moderate diet or low-carb diet in that sentence? What kind
of sugars are you referring to? Starches? Tubors? Grains? Simple sugars like
sucrose, fructose, glucose from honey, refined white/brown sugar? Candy bar?
How many carbs we talkin’ ’bout? It sounds like you’re overwhelming your
body’s tolerance for carbs… one meal (or snack) is all it takes to provoke
your pancreas into a panic over-reaction that causes it to secrete enough
insulin to send not only the carbs you’ve eaten and have absorbed into your
bloodstream, but the maintenance level blood-sugar already circulating in
your bloodstream into your body’s cells. If that is the case, now that your
blood-sugar (glucose) has been shunted by the chemical instruction hormone
called insulin (hormones are like drugs BTW) into your body’s cells there
isn’t enough blood-sugar (glucose) in circulating in your blood stream for
proper functioning of your body. This creates more panic, this condition
called hypoglycemia (hypo- under and glycemia- you can figure that out) then
provokes the release of another hormone called a “leptin” or is a leptin (I
forget that part <sigh
“hey, be hungry, our blood-sugar is too low, we need more food!” and in this
hormonal environment you can bet yer britches that your body is going to be
craving guess what? Carbohydrates! And what raises blood-sugar levels
fastest?!? Quickly assimilable carbohydrates! And what foods have the
fastest entry-carbs? Ha ha ha ha. The joke is on us. “Downward spiral
baby…” [carefully inhaling water-pipe cannibinoids in deep intellectual
mentation] “Downward spiral.” [phoooooh!]* Then you can add the chromium
deficiency that results from refined sugars and THAT downward spiral… it’s
a bad situation. This is a large part of the puzzle as to why people have so
much difficulties and health problems in our western cultures (let’s play
“Food Detectives”!).
*just kidding about the THC, still sober!
Ann: I think my body does not make a “graceful transition” - it used to be
that i could feel that transition in the daytime but as blood sugar
regulating becomes better, it is less. I agree that low sugar helps the body
tremendously.
One of the advantages to
ketosis or near ketosis is the stable blood-sugar; if you are really there
or on the cusp your body should be stable enough to have a calm stomach…
even through the night… one idea is: the body adapts to how we treat
it,
even if the body becomes accustomed to late-night/early-morning snacks it
can become UN-accustomed to it, if someone were to refuse to cater to the
need, this way the body changes its “bio-rhythms”.
Ann: For sure…the body will adapt and night time eating is not what
should be…
Thanks as always for all the info. Ann
Hey hey Ann and everybody! Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa! It’s sugar water
funtime!!! Yippee! Some of the criticism towards the low-carb diets is that
the weight-loss is from losing water-weight, and that is partially correct.
When you’re typical obese American goes on a low-carb diet they WILL lose
several pounds very quickly because of lost weight in water. This is because
for every one gram of stored glucose (glycogen) in the liver or muscle
tissues (where most of glucose is stored) it takes four grams of water, this
is how Super-Os like me get visibly more buff after “carbing up”, when no
additional muscle mass has been gained (I’d LIKE to be able to gain five
pounds of muscle in 36 hours!). I can literally see how big my musculature
becomes when I’ve filled my young manhoods with sugar and water, less
definition, bigger size, tighter skin, bigger pump, more power… and better
gym-vibes! I’ve written a number of times about my feelings on this, the
“pump-up” to a higher power level like in my favorite cartoon: Dragonball
Z!!!
I’ve had fruit juice this morning, with cayenne, ginger juice, and
l-glutamine! After my emu-liver and mayo and now my cajun-spiced homemade
chili-pasted 6 oz. grass-fed patty and collards sauteed in about 1.5 oz.
beef FAT! I’m…
[crackling energy visible, wind waves sweeping everything in sight, muscles
engorged with awesome O power!; levitating on pure will; hair rippling in
the currents of rage unbound! veins throbbing visibly]
“HA, the people won’t know what hit them! I’m breaking out! Behold, a
Super-O with True Power!”
“Rahhhhh…. Ahh, puahh, Ahhhh!!! Ahhhhh!!!!!
AhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!”
Need I say more?
Super-Axel-O+ in a fiery blaze of secretions!!!
