Off topic and shopping in Austin

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

Happy New Year to all on the list. I also wanted to ask if any of you in Austin
know of any oriental grocery stores? I thought while I’m there I’d stock up on
rice and see if they have any rice noodles.

Black-eyed peas and CR4YT

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

Did everyone have their black-eyed peas for New Year’s? Thank
goodness they’re HB for us! Down here in Texas [imagine a Texas
twang], there’s a cold bean “salad” called Texas Caviar. It consists
of BEP, onion, jalepenos, oil & vingar dressing, maybe some other
things. I just cooked some with beef broth as the liquid. Letting
them cool right now. Yum.
And now for something completely different. Would it be worth it for
me to purchase CR4YT? I don’t really want all the other recipes for
other blood types. I know, kinda selfish, but [most of] my family is
O, so why bother? <smile
is your blood type”?!?! <hee hee
I just received confirmation of my shipment of the Encyclopedia [big
sigh for Axel] and O Food List booklet. I’ll let you know MHO.

us, at one time or another, fall ‘prey’ to) that anyone is going to find the
golden key that unlocks the truth for all of us… While we can all help
each other, there is not consistent sameness to be found among people, even
of the same blood type. So, while there is a valued and respected body of
research coming form the blood type theory, we all still have to find out
own way.
A note of caution for us all: there will not be any ultimate answers! we
do our best when we truly plumb that which is best for ourselves, and share
our theories, findings, musings, ups and downs….
Individuality has been shown to sustain itself beyond the realm of blood
type/secretor status, etc.!<<
Axel here: I hope I never give the impression that I’m presenting the BTD
as a cure-all absolutely correct diet. Before 9/11 on the BB at Dr. D’s site
he had a picture of a fingerprint, this was (I heard) a reminder that we are
all individuals, not two people are alike. Given the other blood-type

fats, animal fats, conjugated linoleic acid- -con

Thought I’d post something on fats again, starting with a cut & paste job from
the BB involving one of the favorites, joachim:

As you probably know grass fed meat contains 300 - 400 % more CLA (conjugated
linolic acid) than animals fattened on grain. Grass fed animals convert dietary
linoleic acid (obtained from grasses) into CLA in their digestive tracts.
Humans, unable to make this conversion, must obtain CLA from beef and lamb in
their diet. On March 15th 2001, the SCI Oils and Fats Group conducted a
conference “Conjugated Linoleic Acid: Emerging Nutrient of the 21st Century?”
Quote:
The final lecture was a critical assessment of the health benefits of CLA by Dr
J.C. Stanley (Lincoln Edge Nutrition, England). He noted that the health
benefits claimed for CLA and determined in animal studies include an anti-cancer

Food and Sleep

Friday, April 29th, 2005

Hi All, I am still experimenting on this subject too. So many factors come into
play with sleep - how much exercise/work you have done, mood, interpersonal
relations that day etc. i do think that when I have been steady on a good O
diet and have eaten a good balance of carbs that it is best for me to fast
overnight. However, over the xmas season, my diet has been less than ideal and
the blood sugar regulation is not as good at the moment hence the need for food
at night…and waking up.
So back to a cleaner, better diet and very soon blood sugar should be good
again.
In reply to Axel…and Karen…
Blended walnuts - want to try…do you grind them in a coffee grinder? or what?
then you soak for 4 hours? or soak and then blend in what machine?
Soporific effect - please describe…mellow? or ?
Axel: You must have missed ALL of my posts! I was being humorous… Good luck

individuality

nonnies I suspected
I was one of them (whew!), I think even for secretors the nonnies no-no list
is something to take heed of. I think what’s discouraged for our simpler Os
is an indicator of foods to be wary of… for some things. Just m2c.
Axel, this is an excellent point in a number of ways….
It points to your own research into your biochemical individuality, and it
presents a theory for others to consider….
As an A, it makes a lot of sense to me.
What does not make a lot of sense to me, though, is the idea (that all of us, at
one time or another, fall ‘prey’ to) that anyone is going to find the golden key
that unlocks the truth for all of us…
While we can all help each other, there is not consistent sameness to be found
among people, even of the same blood type. So, while there is a valued and

Appetites

“Tis not the meat, but ’tis the appetite makes eating a delight”.

May we all look forward to a healthy appetite for the New Year,

calcium supplementation

Thursday, April 28th, 2005

Best calcium supplementation for O’s is calcium citrate, microhydroxyapatite (or
you could use Dr D’s Phytocal - full of good
mineral ratio). Of course the best calcium for all comes from the foods we eat.
