Problem with eating meat

Thursday, March 24th, 2005

Vicki, let me add my name to the list of animal lovers who eat meat. Karen
Beckwith was very eloquent and succint, so I won’t repeat the same thing, but
I just want to give you some support too. I have been involved in animal
rescue groups and volunteered at several shelters since childhood, and I used
to feel guilty about eating meat. I would try not to eat it, and when I
couldn’t help myself, I felt like a relapsed alcoholic. When I started the
blood type diet, and I returned to a good state of health I had not enjoyed
in over 30 years, I knew I had to stop feeling guilty. It is just my
biology. I do pay attention to what I buy. For instance, I buy free range
veal, I buy organic eggs that come from chickens never caged or force-fed
fake food, etc.
I agree it’s hard to dive in right away, but I recommend you find some
sources for meat that offer a humane environment to their livestock, and
(provided you are an O) start eating more HB meats. The better you feel
physically, the more “right” it will seem to eat this way.

O cold remedies? (O code wemedies)

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

Dear Cinnamon,
I know how you feel. I am the same way today - feeling YUCKY. (I did LOL
about the feeling like pizza bit, though).
What has made me feel much better today is:
-Having the bath that Betsy posted (recipe below).
-Having a sauna last night.
-Pumping up on every vitamin I can get my hands on and have INCLUDED in
that, a fantastic remedy (that you can actually get in the US from what I
know!!!) by “Green Medicine Company” called “Clear the Way” It is a mixture
of Chinese herbs that I find really helps clear the symptoms!
8 cups chamomile tea (bring 8 cups of water to a boil. Add 2 chamomile
tea
bags and boil for 15 minutes)
1/3 cup of epsom salts
1/3 cup hydrogen peroxide

sore on tip of tongue

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

Hi All,
I think I remember someone having a remedy for this a while back - anyone know?
DH -Type A ns -has had a virus and cough for the past almost 4 weeks - and run
down I guess - had to be away and giving workshops at the begiining of the virus
and had little sleep. Has had the sore tongue bit before - a couple of weeks
ago - but it is really bad now - can see a real sore spot. His morning pH
(urine) is pretty acidic - he has been taking “Greens” and ground flax last few
days and it is now up to 6.0 - should be at least 6.4, I am told.
Any advice gratefully received. Ann
He is off to see the doctor tomorrow on another matter but he won’t know… will
see ND but not until next week. Meanwhile….

stone root

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2005

I have been told that stone root would help my sinus problems but I
have been unable to find stone root in my area at any kind of
stores. Does anybody know where it could be ordered, either on line
or thru the reg. mail. Would rather not have to put it into capsules
myself if possible. thanks, Dottie

Meyers Briggs/INFP

I recommend taking the full MBTI, if you can. Abbreviated versions
don’t do it justice. Jung’s work is complex, the MBTI attempts to
simplify it, further attempts to simplify it can … mislead people.
In my years of working with the MBTI, I have come across numbers of
people that have been mis-typed and the results can range anywhere
from frustrating to catastrophic.

Vicki & meat eating

Tuesday, March 22nd, 2005

Hi Vicki,
There are many of us who went through what you are describing… the
“ohmygoditsmeatdoireallyhavetoputitinmymouth!!!!” <smile
can make in your health if you are an O has been commented on. For me I went
through some of what Axel describes: confronting the wheel of life and death…
realizing that my ideals conflicted with what my body, as an animal, needed to
survive. I don’t consider myself an animal, well, mostly I don’t <smile
body is what it is and it needs whatever it needs to feel loved and thrive in
the few years that it has to exist. As an O that means meat….and as an O-ns
that means lotsa meat.
I love life…having to eat meat to be healthy is another blow to my idealistic
way of living. I’m brought back to the reality of hard core survival and each
meal becomes a sacred act if I take the time and let it. But sometimes I forget
and the wolf comes out and I gorge myself and leave the table without saying
thanks.

Eating Fish/question of safety

Monday, March 21st, 2005

Hi Daisy,
I eat fish frequently, as well as a variety of red meats/game meats. But
then, I love seafood. For O’s, saltwater fish is much better than fresh
water. I buy from a local family that has run a meat/fish market for several
generations, and they can always tell me the source of their products, as
well as whether it is organic, free-range, anti-biotic free, etc. They will
also special order these items for me if they don’t have them. There has
been information provided by others in previous posts regarding the higher
quality nutrition/purity of ocean fishes vs. farm-raised. I also avoid fish
caught in the SF Bay where I live, or any other bay, like Puget Sound, as I
feel they are more likely to be yucky from all the boat traffic and waste
leakages. I stick with Pacific and Atlantic fishes. The oceans are not 100%
pure of course, but then, most of what we breathe and drink is polluted too,
that’s the world we live in. I have a good source for meat/fish, ask
questions, make the best choice from the options presented to me.

INFP

Monday, March 21st, 2005

I’m curious if you know your Myers-Briggs Personality Type. The above quote
sounds distinctly NF, probably INFP, if I had to guess. Just curious.
Lynn here: Don’t recall Axel responding to this, but both my husband and I
are INFPs. I agree with the NF assessment. Need to do meaningful work and
helping others. It’s always fun to find more of us out there! When we did
the test, our counselor(?)/tester(?) said that there are only about 3% INFPs
out there. I guess that’s why I don’t post very often, my “I(ntrovert)”
showing.
It is finally snowing here in Idaho! Haven’t been skiing yet, but hopefully
this weekend. AND… I finally fixed our Nordic Track, yea!!! I really
notice how much better I feel (mentally, emotionally and physically) when I
do that (or the weights) first thing in the morning before breakfast.
Strenuous exercise Os! (Especially in this winter <Kapha
am putting the treadmill purchase on hold right now. But my husband has
been hinting at a Bowflex. Anybody have one and like/dislike it or know if
