our viral swedish friend
Irene Nielson e-mailed me from the address: _irene-m@… with the
subject line “Re: [ER4YT-O] Re: Please read…..” There was NOTHING in the body
of the e-mail, and it had the aforementioned unopened attachment. I have never
opened an attachment from a complete stranger who doesn’t write any message in
the body. This was mailed to me on 11/29/01 at precisely 3:46 PM by my
computer’s time (midwest, central time…). Is that detailed enough? I don’t
have enough experience with computers… I constructed this e-mail from a reply
to Irene Nielson’s blank e-mail to me, if you get an attachment delete it. I
don’t seem to be having any problems, I didn’t open it, maybe I’ve been spared.
Whatever is going on… I’m scared.
P.S. it doesn’t matter if she SEEMS innocent, a competent person can easily
assume any persona they choose… I can see someone becoming paranoid. IF I were
a hacker it DOES make sense to assume an innocent, helpless language-challenged
person to garner sympathy and avoid suspicion. But then, perhaps a stalker would
also see fit to be a lurker too… or maybe just make enough of a show to avoid
the status of “lurker” such as Irene has done… you never know! All I’m saying
is, this is an electronic medium of words, typed by anyone. We can assume any
persona we wish, it is purely up to us to decide how we represent ourselves…
maybe I’m not a 24 year old midwest American male? Maybe I’m not even an O?
Maybe I’m joachim from the BB of Dr. D’s site and I’m covertly stalking my
nemesis? The possibilities are endless!!!

That is also true Axel. We should do what we can to protect our computers
but not “Assume guilty until proven innocent” as that is just unjust and
unfair.
