DragonballZ (& Beyond) ie thyroid

Friday, December 31st, 2004

I remember this came up recently… silicon. Silicon is
IMO an underrated trace element. Silicon is an important
part of the bone matrix. I recall reading how people
heal faster and more completely from bone injuries when
eating a diet high in silicon or supplemented with
something like regular teas w/ horsetail (high in
silicon). Check it out. Anyone with bone challenges
should try out horsetail to see if there’s a difference.

Kathy Matthews: Anti-virals

I have found various solutions to back pain that are very helpful as I
myself get “neck lock-up” if I do not follow these procedures and can’t even
drive a car when that happens. Here is a list of things to do/take. But
first of all I want to explain that the discs are NOT hard plates. They are
like sacs of jelly and can be repaired with help of diet.
- There is a product called Hernidisc made from the company Eagle which
helps repair the disc
- I take a high dose magnesium - but one especially for muscles called
“Ultra Muscle-ease” by the company, Bio-Ceuticals. This is brilliant. One
teaspoon of nice tangy flavoured powder in juice. This has been one of THE
most helpful things. If I miss my daily dose for a few days, I’m ruined!
- I have recently discovered “Pain Relief Patches” These I think are made
by “Blackmores”. These are probably the most unusual and amazingly simple
thing you will see in medicine. They are “stickers” in all different sizes.
Apparently inside them is a special type of ceramic that puts IR heat into

Beneficials

Monday, December 27th, 2004

Hi! I have been reading cookbooks and the list and finally got that not
eating avoids was good, but that it was also imperative to eat Beneficials.
So, I made a stoup, (family talk for a soupy stew or lumpy filled soup) and
included all sorts of beneficials! Bought some organic adzuki beans and
cooked them according to the label, with a 3″ piece of Kombu (sea vegetable).
In the meantime, I browned a pound of stew meat in a bit of olive oil.
(Started about 5pm) Then, to the meat added:
beet leaves, 5 cloves of garlic, 3 leeks, 2 parsnips, celery, sweet potato,
broccoli butts (I always cut off the big stemmy parts and save them when
steaming the florets), and an onion. I just put the slicing blade in my food
processor and ran everything through it.
To that I added, another slice of Kombu, a piece of dulse, 2 cups of beef
bouillon (my Vitamin Cottage sells something called Meatless Beef Broth
powder that seems O compatible), a huge handful of fresh parsley, 2 Tbs. of
bladderwrack, a generous dash of cayenne and some salt. Add seasonings of

Karen, what should the ratio of protein to carbs be? I still have to get
better organized to make sure I’m getting enough protein. Thanks, Patt

DragonballZ (& Beyond)

Sunday, December 26th, 2004

Ha, ha…maybe if we stopped our thyroid med we’d metamorphize into 5-D
beings? Or maybe we were in the process when our thyroids slowed down…and we
stopped our evolution by taking meds. Ha, ha, Just kidding, ya’ll. –Lilla
And since we’re on outright weird topics… I read a scientific
dissertation
not long ago on the role of thyroxin (basic thyroid hormone, made
possible
in part by iodine) in lower creatures. Apparently body levels drop
precipitously before metamorphosis into adulthood of any kind occurs
in
those animals (ie, caterpillar to butterfly kind of thing). It made
me
momentarily ponder what would happen if I stopped taking my thyroid
med.
Nah, I decided. But would entertain more discussion along these lines

Hard to exercise Hard!

Sunday, December 26th, 2004

Thomas asked:
I was doing a great job in the summer - walking 6 out of 7 and swimming across
our little lake for about 50 minutes 2 or 3 x a week with my neighbor.
Then by mid Sept I becamse discouraged at lack of weight loss which I now
realize was because I was using bars and some shakes - both protein base but not
for an O ns.
So now I need to get back to a routine. I signed up at the y on thursday and
did a workout, swam 20 lengths and then went to Pilates. Thought I would be sore
but wasn’t so need to get on with increasing the intensity.
I really am lazy….
Any inspiring words? Ann

attending seminar with limited food selections

Saturday, December 25th, 2004

Hi All,
I hope you can help with some suggestions. I am attending a seminar this
Friday through Sunday. I received a letter stating that all meals are
provided with no choices on the parts of the participants, one selection per
meal. They do, however, state that if you are on a “medical diet” to let
them know.
I would like to call them and see if my type O diet can be accomodated at
all, but want to present it in the most official sounding terms (not as some
flaky fad diet, which I know this is not!).
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should present this? I thought
if I list the worst of avoids as allergens (wheat, potato, corn, kidney and
navy beans, lentils, peanut, dairy, other?) and maybe give them a short list
of most appropriate foods (?) ?
I appreciate any help you can provide! This is an intensive weekend so
there will probably not be time for me to search out food on my own.
