For those of you secretors who can still have cheese, here are two sheep’s
milk cheeses that were my favorites:
Manchego - similar to a very hard, sharp cheddar
Etorki - a more nutty, buttery cheese that’s firm, but not as hard as the
Manchego

wow …I had no idea carbs really played a factor here. This bottle
of juice that I am drinking has 30 grams in it!!!
I definetly need to lose some weight and thats not gonna help.I just
get tried of drinking water all the time.whta do yall suggest??
I cant believe all that I am learning! Thanks Vicki

It is amazing the content of carbs in almost everything! I do make an
‘O’ compliant chili sometimes because you just gotta have something
hot besides a grilled steak ya know? I love to have cheese melted on
tope of my chili. Monterey Jack cheese has 0 carbs. I was soexcited!
But then when I looked on the ER list I see that it is an avoid.
So I have to decide what is more important to me and for me. An Avoid
that appears to give me no side affects or problems or eat Mozzarella
Cheese that I do love too but has carbs in it. Well, I choose the 0
carbs in this intances for me.

LOW CARB, ETC. - WATER

Wednesday, October 20th, 2004

It depends on your goals. For most people this is probably plenty.
For weight loss you need more. As with all things, you should listen
to your body. I don’t quite make my goal, but I drink more than most
people. The idea is to flush the fat and toxins out of your body.
A small amount of fat resides in your blood stream, for daily use. If
you are drinking a lot water, you are flushing out the this fat,
therefore the body must go to the fat stores for its normal activity,
thereby accelerating fat loss. Of course, there is probably some
level of diminishing returns, where this does more harm than good, as
in Deb’s case.

LOW CARB, ETC.

Tuesday, October 19th, 2004

I have been following the thread on low carb and non-secretor status
this last couple of days and am now convinced I am probably a
non-secretor.
When I first started ER4YT 2 years ago I lost about 10 pounds, then
stopped. Try as hard as I might I just didn’t lose any more. Then I
stopped Ezekiel bread and almond butter. I ate just ONE slice a day
for breakfast with just a bit of the almond butter but it was just
enough to keep the pounds from dropping. Of course I ate the
occasional sweet potato and a little rice too. After stopping the
bread and almond treat I lost 37 pounds then I went on vacation for
Thanksgiving and lost my momentum.
I started ER4YT again in mid-Feb this year. Then in March I started
doing the low carb/high protein. I have lost 58 pounds so far.
Whenever I cheat, even the tiniest bit, the pounds creep back. Funny
though, NOT the inches! I MUST be REALLY allergic to carbs!

“Compliant” Pasta/Venison

Monday, October 18th, 2004

Within the depths of many an asian grocer lies the
diverse world of rice pastas awaiting your discovery.
I am currently in the recuperation process from a recent
bout of palette-induced ecstatic paroxysms from my last
venison meat muffin mix.
Becoming a carnivore is so good for my type I find it is
extremely habit-forming.
Question: how many people out there can feel the
difference between happy natural-diet active chickens
and corn and soy-fattened legume lazy chickens?
P.S. I love sea vegetables. I wonder if they go well
with starches…

off subject.

Hi elp,
I keep seeing that you are from Texas. Do you mind if I ask where in Texas
you are from? If that is getting too personal, I won’t mind you’re saying
so. I’m one of many other born and bread Texans on this list that may not
live there any more, like I’m in Oklahoma, but was born in Central Texas. I
guess I really got curious when I saw how many were in certain areas near
each other in California and Oregon.

Deflect O - hyperthyroid?

Saturday, October 16th, 2004

Hi again, I am wondering if anyone has had a problem with Deflect triggering an
slightly overactive thyroid? I do feel the cold but am not lethargic or feel
tired. Indeed on the O diet i am somewhat hyper. I do have trouble
getting/keeping weight down ( O non-secretor) and thyroid tests were normal -
TSH 1.13 if i remember as well as the others being “normal”.
I started to take Deflect and after a short while - 1st bottle - felt jittery
and had more trouble sleeping - was also taking the Fucus recommended -
obviously too much. I was taking 2 deflect a day.
It apparently has many benefits but I guess not for all O’s? any comments?

What a non-secretor eats to loose weight

Friday, October 15th, 2004

<<Dianne, you are also a non-secretor! Have you lost weight? Would you mind
sharing the kinds of meals that you typically eat?
Lean protein and vegetables, almost exclusively.
Typical day:
Breakfast - protein shake with 1/2 cup blueberries (my only fruit for the
day)
Lunch - chicken breast (with olive oil) or tuna (with some Vegenaisse) on
lots and lots of lettuce
Snack - raw bell peppers, zucchini, and/or celery
Dinner - slab of fish, chicken or lean beef, more lettuce and/or veggies
(this time probably cooked)
Snack - protein bar
Please understand that I am on a special high-protein, lowered carb and
lowered fat plan with my doctor (I was diagnosed with a very underactive
thyroid) so in addition to the good O non-secretor food I consume protein
