Calcium/Magnesium

Thursday, October 28th, 2004

After reading the emails on Ca/Mag ratios, I checked what I had in my
fridge.
CalMax = 2:1 = 400mg Cal, 200mg Mag w/ Vita C
CalAbsorb = 2:1 = 500mg Cal, 250mg Mag w/ Vita C & D
These are powdered formulas.
However, even when I’ve used tablets the ratio is the same, I believe, 2:1,
more Cal than Mag. Should it be the other way around?
BTW, I was also told at one time, that Cal/Mag must be taken w/ vita D and
boron to be properly absorbed.

potato starch

Thursday, October 28th, 2004

Hi! I’m new to this list although I have been following the plan for
almost a month now. I am now ready to experiment with a little baking
and checked out all the wheat-free cookboks I could find from our
library. Most of them seem to call for a mixture of potato starch
flour and tapioca flour. It would seem to me that potato starch flour
is a no no for us O’s. Does anyone know for sure? Any ideas about
what I could substitute? Rice flour is good, but by itself is awfully
grainy. For awhile I got confused by no-wheat and no lectins, but I
think that spelt flour must be okay. Any bakers out there who can
offer insight/experience?
Thank you in advan

Update & Intro (Type O+, Secretor)

Wednesday, October 27th, 2004

An UPDATE for ER4YT, & my LETTER OF INTRODUCTION to CR4YT
My name is Donna Carnall. I started Dr. D’s program the first part of June
2001. I am a Type O+, Secretor.
On July 21of this year I wrote the following letter to the ER4YT list, of
which I am a very delighted member. Some changes in my health & wellbeing
have come about since I learned of this new way of living, & my comments on
those changes are noted, where applicable, between triple asterisks (***)
below.
Here is that 21 July 2001 letter:
Hi Everyone,
I just received test results—I am officially a secretor. NOW WHAT???
I am in need of info & advice on what a TYPE O+ SECRETOR is supposed to eat
& do to accomplish good health? I am a 56yr old overweight female (120# to
lose). Since starting ER program about 1 1/2 months ago I have lost 15#.
Yea!!! It’s such an encouragement right now!

Tomato is a fruit - was LOW CARB, ETC.

Tuesday, October 26th, 2004

Hmm.. well Horticulturally speaking there are lots of fruits that are not grown
on “woody” plants besides strawberries, all
the melons for example (which are also annuals). However, I was talking
botanically (and I imagine we should be more
interested in which genus/family they belong to than how they are grown :).
Botanical class is Lycopersicum-esculentum.. They
are also members of the nightshade family. Anyway botanically tomatoes are a
fruit, more specifically a berry. They are
seed-bearing structures that develop from the ripened ovaries of flowers, they
are also seed bearing with soft flesh. Also
while non-”woody” they are grown on branched plants (unlike *most* “vegetables”)
(I’ve also seen tomatoes grown on “trees” by
the way -not sure if this is natural/grafted/genetically altered tho) :). So
Horticulturally I imagine that they should be
taken care of similiarly to other fruits but hey :) I’m definintely not a

Although I wouldn’t call it soft, it was definitely pliable enough to roll
up.

Dear Osss,
I am a little confused about Mozzerella cheese, why is this not an
avoid as it has milk in it???
Also, for some reason I can not post a message through my email, I
have to go through the ER4YT list website, can someone tell me why?
TIA

Antigens

Monday, October 25th, 2004

Dr. D has an Ask A Question today about antigens and e. coli. In the article he
mentions that Guava has an antigen for e. coli. He also mentions that soy has an
antigen for anthrax. They aren’t sure if 5HTP has the antigen though.

balance out the juice.
I’m trying to get my mind wrapped around this concept.
The ratio (45/35/20) is of more importance to the type O body than the
total calorie intake? We should strive to maintain a high protein
intake, but if we should happen to over do the carbohydrate intake we
should increase the protein intake accordingly to maintain appropriate
ratios - EVEN IF that means increasing our total daily calorie intake?

Nuts & seeds

You mean Lysine is NOT O compliant ? I have been using it for years for my
occasional bouts with coldsores . Been buying it at the HFS. Please don’t tell
me its an avoid, (cause it works so well) ??
