Type O+S weight loss - long

Wednesday, June 30th, 2004

Listers,
Forgive the possible duplication here. Elizabeth asked me to post this
information to all three lists. I apologize if you will be getting it three
times. As many of you may remember, I am an O+S. I have arthritis,
fibromyalgia, and had a bilateral hip replacement three years ago. I have
been 90% compliant for about a year. I have been feeling a bit better, but I
have had no significant weight loss. I had strong carbohydrate cravings, and
while I did not eat avoids at all, I was eating larger portions and consuming
more rice than I should. I feel if I could lose weight, much of my pain
would be lessened. I know I will never be pain free, but I sure wouldn’t
miss getting rid of most of it. A couple months ago I was reading about
Elizabeth’s experiences with the I Love To Diet Program. While I thought it
was a silly name, I did send for the tape and booklet. I took the test and
managed to score a perfect 60 for carbohydrate cravings. I looked it over
and set it aside as we are all apt to do. Several weeks ago I managed to get

I found that CB’s suggestion on message #6258 was great….

Addicted to Grains

Tuesday, June 29th, 2004

Oh my….when I first introduced myself to the list, I said that this diet
was easy for me, since I had given up sugar and dairy and wheat years ago.
But lord have mercy - I am craving grains like you wouldn’t believe!!!! I
bought some essene bread today, thinking I could stave off the cravings by
just having a little a day. That poor little loaf never had a chance. <sigh
I want to thank the listmember who forwarded the link on sugar & grains; I
had long felt that so many foods I was eating were being turned into sugar
and aggravating my candida, however, I didn’t want to go on an all-vegetable
diet. Now it makes complete sense that I was turning every little morsel of
oats, millet, wheat-free waffles and rice to sugar, keeping my weight up, and
making me feel so bloated. I *do* feel better on days when I just eat meat,
fish and vegetables, yet I still feel like I’m depriving myself, that there’s
something missing.
Anyone else going through this?

ADMIN: COMPUTER PROBLEMS FIXED

Tuesday, June 29th, 2004

My computer problems are now fixed. A hearty thank you to everyone who wrote
me privately about my mouse woes. Yes I did need to install the drivers
(told dh that but he refused to believe me <VBG
the computer store to tell him that for a 10 dollar fee LOL. Also, there was
a broken pin from the previous mouse stuck inside the mouse port and it
wouldn’t plug in properly until that was removed.
We have company in from out of town, a yard sale going on, my MIL is
scheduled to see a Dr. for some diabetes related eye surgery on Tuesday, so
it looks like I won’t be back online full time (except when the kids are
asleep) until at least Wed. but I am back with computer access.
Thanks for all your help,

Food Choices

Monday, June 28th, 2004

Thanks to all who answered my first message … will begin adding
flax seeds to everything. Is it imperative to grind the seeds?
What are you guys having for breakfast? I don’t really enjoy fruit
at that time of the day (have 2 apples during the day) and eggs
aren’t to be had too often. One thing I have been enjoying for
breakfast is chicken livers fried in olive oil with onions & tomatoes.
