Sugar for O’s/Thomas & Tabitha

Coming out of lurker mode to comment on the sugar ‘debate’ for
non-secretors.
I believe that both Thomas and Tabitha are correct. I recall Dr. D
stating that for healthy people following the blood type diets, 80-90%
compliance is acceptable. So for those people a little bit of sugar
would probably not be a problem, if eaten occasionally, even for
non-secretors, just as Thomas stated.
If you are a person who is sensitive to sugar, trying to lose weight, or
dealing with any health problems, then Tabitha’s advice to completely
avoid sugar (and all other avoids) would be the best course of action.
Corrections are welcome - if I have this wrong! :-) Debra

Most Os do not eat a high protein diet

    Hi Thomas,
Are you saying that the problem is that most O’s don’t eat enough protein? I
often feel that I don’t eat enough. I would like to lose weight. Is this
    the answer?

How much protein do you recommend? I read that you say to eat 1 gram
for every pound you weigh..is this correct? I always thought you
calculate your lean body mass and then multiply by a certain number
according to your activity level.(.5 couch potato to like .9 working
out daily..athlete..) Which is the main one I heard of anyway. Then I
think I read somewhere else to eat 1 gram of protein for every pound
of muscle! (big difference between about 60 grams and 90!)
I am very curious if there are more efficient ways of calculating
protein requirements, and about your logic behind your recommendation
    about protein. :0) Please share!
Isn’t it different according to fitness level, lean muscle mass..etc?
I have always had a high body fat percentage because I was a
vegetarian for many years and have a protein difficiency still, after
a year of ER/LR. I have 33% body fat and weigh about 140lbs, but I am
5′4″, not very larged boned and told I look less. i am almost 19, so

this isn’t exactly ideal. ;0/ I do have health issues though that I
am working out, thyroid, lyme disease, just to name a couple.
Anyway..don’t want to get into it and gab anymore than is
neccessary..just curious about how much protein (apprx grams) you
recommend people follow according to whatever method you use.
    Thanks in advance!

I am trying to see where your coming from. :0) I find your
suggestions very helpful. I understand the concept of 45% protein,
35% carbs, 20% fat. I have heard you mention it before. I am just
trying to figure out how you calculate protein requirements so I can
go from there. So you would suggest that I eat 90 protein grams a day
(aprx) since I am 33% fat?
I do not eat that many carbs anymore. I would say right now I try to
eat about 65 grams of protein and no more than 40 carbs a day.
I can’t believe you got attacked in the other groups! I saw that!
Doesn’t Dr D’Adamo state that the key to the O diet is high protein
low carb? Oh, I forgot to mention I am also a non-secretor. ;0)
So how far apart should the meals be? 3 hours or so? I am indeed very
serious. I would love to be more muscular and lean. I do better
taking direction than trying to figure it out on my own and messing
up! LOL A guideline/plan is quite helpful for me.

A fistful of protein..so what 4 onces lets say? Do you recommend not
to eat past a certain time of day?
I am also exercising too since my energy is getting better. I
lift weights for 30 minutes every other day. I try to exercise for 30
minutes or so(that is about all I can do), 5-6 days a week. The days
I don’t lift weights I try to do some leg exercises. Once my nordic
track is fixed I can try to slowly incrase my stamina on that.
Do your recommendations on the flax oil still stand because I am a
non-secretor? I would think it may be a little different then?
Shouldn’t I hold off on any nuts until I lower my body fat percentage
and increase my metabolism? (I am just wondering if I need to add
more fat because I would assume the 30% would be in the protein)
Just so I make sure I understand, you recommend in order for me to
get lean to have 5-6 small meals a day consisting of protein and
veggies or squash. This should be meat protein and eggs for my
protein then correct? I can have 2 fruits, so they should be in
between the protein then right? I do food combine a little, and know
that unless it was pineapple or cherry juice if I have them with
meat, it won’t be too good for my digestion. ;0/
Since my body fat is high, then I shouldn’t eat too many calories
right now right? I have a body fat scale so I can keep track.
This has been most helpful Thomas, your experience is much
    appreciated!!
I look forward to hearing if you have any further suggestions because
    of my non-secretorness..;0)

<<(I am just wondering if I need to add
    That was a typo…I meant 20% fat not 30%… ;0) I need to practice
typing more I guess! Also I was just curious how many calories you
recommend. I take it you though I was eating enough then?

    OK! :0)
I do use the O sip right tea.
    I actually eat 1000+ calories a day usually..not even close to 400. I
eat too much almond butter though. Once a week sounds better.(more
    sane!) For now anyway.
But I have yet another question. The fistful of protein…does that
mean the size of my palm then? I don’t think I am going to grab a
fistful of beef, or turkey sausage, or eggs..etc..hehe So as long as
I have a good palm size amount of protein per meal I don’t have to
worry about too much or too little protein then? :0) I ask about
onces and grams because I know how to calculate it that way.
I am sure eating all of these meals will be easier when we get the
protein powders? :0) I am not hungry every 3 hours. I should eat even
when I am not hungry I take it? I am sure my body will adjust. I eat
    every 4 hours now.

<<Eat nuts once a week. Fats don’tmake you fat. Carbs do.
    I know, but I think I over did the almond butter a little…. ;0(
At least I don’t drink juices anymore. If I do it is a little lemon
in water. or a couple tablespoons that are deluted in a large glass
    of water.
I don’t drink with my meals either, and do have a large glass of warm
water in the morning 30 min. before breakfast.
well thanks again! I will let you know what happens! :0)
    Nicole :O)
