Susan
What type of trampoline do you have?
Thanks
Jane
<One of the best exercises you can do is jumping on a
trampoline. It is very easy on your joints and
jogging for 20 minutes is equal to running 3 1/2 miles
according to my physical therapist cousin.

My gut reaction is to say, I think I'm actually bringing my diet into
balance with nursing and I expect things will be better than before.
Honestly, I'm almost as new to this way of eating as you are, Jill.
To complicate matters, I'm a 15 year vegetarian living in a multi-
bloodtype family. Currently, I'm still transitioning away from
avoids and into beneficials, although I'm not sure I'll ever be able
to add beef. Wheat and dairy are my priorities to eliminate. I
continue to take my maternity vitamins and calcium suppliments,
although upping my leafy greens and almonds are probably doing
wonders for my calcium levels. One thing I definately encountered is
that more than one serving of soy per day makes me feel really bad.
I'm not sure if it's the high plant estrogens in combination with the
nursing hormones or it's just an O thing. I also have been and
continue to be always within arms reach of a drink of water. That's
a biggie for me while I'm nursing.
<!--more-->
My baby girl will be a year old in a couple of weeks. She's a good
nurser, too. Her interest in solid foods is still pretty limited,
but then she only has two teeth. I made a quinoa pilaf the other
night that she ate with the same enthusiasm as I eat chocolate
truffles. (Ooh, there's another discovery. The less wheat I eat,
the less I crave chocolate.) Anyway, I'm happy to be raising her on
a diet appropriate to her type A blood. She does occasionally sample
some of her avoids and with the exception of potatoes, she avoids
them herself.
We haven't typed my husband or son, although I've ordered my son's
medical records from the hospital where he was born, so hopefully
that info will be in there somewhere. My MIL is AB, so my husband is
either A or AB. If he's AB, that means my son could be AB, A or B, or
he could have picked up my FIL's recessive O along with my O and be
O. Worst case scenario is AB husband and B son - in which case I
will either give up all together or become a walking encyclopedia of
ER4YT and multi-talented short order cook.
I'm away from home for the next week, so if you don't hear from me,
my roaming internet connection isn't working.

Robin, you are a nursing mama too? I am too! My son is 5 months old. He
nurses quite well. How do you balance eating this way and nursing?

Christine,
I have one of these balls, I used it for my labor! Duh! Thank you for the
idea! Now I will see if I can find that book at the library and learn to use the
ball!

Robin,
Thank you for the suggestions, and the laugh! My son is only 5 months old, so
he won't jump on me. My daughter however is 10 years old, she may! LOL
I love the treadmill. I need to use it more, just with real shoes on, not
slippers. My son loves to be carried at the time I walk on it. So I am always
holding him. He loves the motion, I walked A LOT during my pregnancy.
I had planned on doing a triathlon, then found out I was pregnant! What a
shock that was.
I will check my local library for the books on tape and stuff. I had not
thought of that! Great thinking. I use my library quite a bit. Just have to stop
owing them money....
I tried Cod for the first time this afternoon. Wow! I need to eat that more
often! It was better than steak!
OK, going to run now...
Warmly,
<!--more-->
Jill
BTW, does carob have caffeine in it?

I'd like to recommend using a balance ball with hand weights (dumbells).
There is a lot that can be done at home with this ball, which is about $25
full retail (check TJ Maxx and Marshalls for them for $9.99). I also saw
them at Target but didn't see the price. Dumbells are inexpensive and are
available at Wal Mart or anywhere. I recommend ones with non-slippery
coatings (some are very glossy plastic and can slip in your hands or roll
around if your palms sweat). There are some great books on the market (and
in the library or interlibrary loan) that show how to do the exercises. Also
bands for the legs, arms, and ankles can be found for about $10 for a set of
3 different "difficulty leveled" bands. With these inexpensive items and a
small amount of floor space, a lot of strength training can be done at home.
The book by Caroline Corning Creager called "bounce back into shape" has
great information/exercises/illustrations for using the balance ball after
having a baby. However the same exercises can be done by anyone at any time.
I have not read her other books but I bet they are also high quality.

We have a treadmill, so I hopped on that last night, I went further than I

have a blister!

Hi Sarah,
Yes, my baby and I are both O's. The whole family here is, so that should
help make changes. It can be for all of us, not just me. I just want to make
sure
I keep my milk supply up and healthy. The way I have been eating... I am sure
it will be an improvement! :)
Warmly,
Jill

Hello, my name is Jill. I am new to this group and to this concept. I
have tried various diets for health and though they were good they
were not right for me.
Now I am here to give this a true try. I am also a breastfeeding mom.
I would like to get my hands on the book eat right 4 your baby, but
cannot afford it at this time, hopefully soon.
I am a 33 year old stay at home mom, so I need some motivation on the
excercise part. It is hard to get out right now when it is soooo
cold! Brrrrr....
I live a very alternative life compaired to the way I grew up. So
this ought to be nothing new. : )
I was diagnosed years ago with thyroid disorder, but now am off meds
and doing fine. My mother was also diagnosed with a thyroid disorder,
she is a vegetarian. Wish I could get her to give this a try but she
has been that way for so long.
<!--more-->
Well, that's me and I think I have rambled enough.
Warmly,
Jill
