Ok, now this is just my not so humble opinion about that “up to date” list
(and info on the net in general).
A couple of days ago on the dadamo.com site the maintainer of the list went
on a little rant about how he was not an expert on the matter and how people
were giving him grief on the inconstancies.
I figure it this way - if you have eliminated ALL of the avoids in the books
and still have trouble with the above listed foods - and when you avoid those
as well you are fine - then they are avoids for you.
Taking it by the numbers:
1. I avoid anything carbonated - too much salt and it makes me burpy - plus,
I hate the taste of plain seltzer water. Stick to plain ol’ filtered water
for me.
2. Scallions are usually (from my limited culinary experience) a garnish, or
a minor part of a broth like Miso soup. If they don’t bother you then they
are not an avoid. I just cant see chowing down on enough to make your tummy
feel icky.
3. Ok. The O blend tea by the good doc himself (and the Republic of teas….
GREAT herbal tea company) has green tea in it. I understand black tea being
too acidic for some - but green tea had SO little caffeine I can’t see it
being an avoid (unless the medicinal properties thin the blood which
according to the good DR is a bad thing for us).
But that’s just my take on it - I could be wrong. Any time information is
received off the Internet one must look at the source. An information
explosion has happened and it takes a little more work to separate the good
from the bad from the speculation.
