Naturapath
Does anyone know how one becomes qualified as a Naturapath, I had this
vague memory that they were an MD who then went on to specialize as a
ND, maybe this was the personal path of those who I have read about.

I don’t think so. I think it is a totally separate qualification and usually
they are not connected. However, in Hamilton, Ontario the local medical
school, McMaster University Medical Centre, is setting up a school for
Alternative Medicine which will be connected with the Medical School. I
think this may be a first.

Gina,
If you do get some info for your self then yes I would be grateful and
interested, but please don’t go out of your way.

Here in Australia you don’t have to be an MD to become a naturopath. Sherry
I get the idea that naturopath training is separate from other types of
doctor training like MD but some naturopaths are MD’s first to give them
“credibility” and a way to speak to other MD’s about their work without
being dismissed by other medical personnel. Also, some want both sides of
the spectrum in their training and some started out being MD’s and decided
they’d rather be ND’s and so went to ND school.
