Carbohydrate Addicts

For those carbohydrate addicts, check out the radiantrecovery.com site and related lists. They get into management of serotonin, beta endorphins and blood sugar. It’s another part of the puzzle.

I am new to this list and I am finding it very interesting. Thanks,
Lynn, for telling about your nausea. I wake up every morning with
nausea. I am a “Keen-ager”. When I told a doctor about this condition,
he replied “You are too old to have “morning sickness.” I was beginning
to think that I am the only person my age who has this nausea.

NEANDER-THIN

Thursday, July 17th, 2003

Did you guys see “48 HOURS” last night? It showed a bunch of weight-loss
scenarios like surgery and Xenical. But what I was excited about was Ray
Audette and his book “Neander-Thin”. He said we should go back to eating the
way we did 10,000 years ago. He has been eating this way for over 15 years.
His son never had any milk except Mother’s. The baby teethed by gnawing on
pork rinds. Husband, wife and child are very slender and healthy looking.
Audette says we should go back to “hunter-gatherer”.
What was intriguing is that he was shown “falconing” in Dallas between 2 major
highways. The falcon caught wild rabbits for Audette’s family to eat. That is
the “hunt” part.
Then they showed him doing the “gather” part. That was in a regular grocery.
Fruits, nuts and vegetables only. Nothing refined or processed.
All in all I thought it was just a much more crude version of ER4YT. While I
know Dr. D advocates free-range meat I think falconing is a bit beyond what most
of us can do. Talk about your fast-food!

Winning the Battle

Wednesday, July 16th, 2003

Just wanted to thanks the participants of this board for all the
knowledge you share. I stepped on the scale this morning and found
that I dropped another 4 lbs. I am realizing this success because of
ER4YT combined with CAD (I found out about CAD on this board).
I have lost approximately 12 lbs since following the CAD/ER4YT
guidelines. I’m interested to see where this weight loss will end up.
My goal is only to lose another 10-12 lbs. Maybe my ideal weight
will, in fact, be lower still.

Fish curry recipe

Wednesday, July 16th, 2003

FISH CURRY
1kg of fresh fish(cleaned, cut into pieces) - here in SA we use Steenbra as it
does not flake when boiled - use your choice of fish.
1onion sliced
4 fresh tomatoes (puree or grated)
1 tablespoon sugar
salt to taste
6 whole cloves of garlic crushed
1 teaspoon Boree (tumeric)
1 - 2 Tablespoons of Masala or curry powder
1 - 3 green chillies ( 3 makes it quite hot)
1/4 block of Tamarind soaked in a cup of boiling water
Tamarind is sold in solid blocks in SA and therefore I take a quarter of the
block soak it in boiling water and then squeeze the juice out of the Tamarind
and then strain the Tamarind water before adding to the curry

Need carob powder ideas

Tuesday, July 15th, 2003

Well ‘New to Carob’ I thought carob was a replacement to cocoa/chocolate
powder so I would have thought anything that uses that could be easily
replaced with carob. I know that is not very helpful but will try to
find more later to day.

WHAT OIL TO USE

Just to be on the safe side.

REPLY:
I have used olive oil exclusively for years. I have used it many times in
cakes, muffins, etc. before I started the ER4YT. Believe it or not olive oil
does not affect the taste at all. However for those of you who prefer not to
try it, use applesauce instead of oil in the cake/muffin mix. Applesauce makes
cakes/muffins light, fluffy and moist. I have not tried this trick in cookies
though.

hair growing back

Monday, July 14th, 2003

In my ongoing effort to add HB’s to my diet, I decided to get a
canister of carob powder. Now, what do I do with it? :) There’s a recipe on the back for Hot Carob Drink:
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup milk (I’ll use rice milk), 1
tablespoon carob powder, 1 tablespoon honey and 1/2 teaspoon pure
vanilla extract (which I’ll be omitting, apparently!).
Anything I could/should add to this to make it better?
I’m open to any ideas regarding carob.
Signed,
