For snacks, I keep animal protein in the house: canned meats (tuna, chicken,
turkey are my faves), hard-boiled eggs, baked chicken thighs, meatballs,
sliced meats like roast beef. I cook a package of chicken pieces every week
just
for snacking and quick meals on the run.
I also keep fresh fruit (whatever is beneficial or neutral), baby carrots and
nuts in the house. Be careful with the nuts. They can pack on the weight.
I have them if I ate fruit or veggies, and later still feel a twinge. I also
keep some dried fruit and raisins in the house. Careful with those as well,
they can be high in sugar (and read the package, some brands have corn syrup
added! Yuck!).
Another thought: try tea. I keep 10 or more herbal teas and green tea in the
house. Sometimes when I feel like a snack, I'm not really that hungry. It's
more like I just want a "treat". I find that a cup of tea will make me
happy, and I'll feel full.
<!--more-->
If you find yourself craving snacks often, then consider that your meals are
not substantial enough. If you are really hungry between meals, consider
either making your meals bigger or having additional meals. For several years I
had a terribly stressful, physically demanding job, and I ate 5-6 small meals
throughout the day, to keep myself fueled up and fresh. It helped me feel
great all day, and kept me mentally sharp, or as close to it as I ever will be.

the couch watching TV with your kids and they're all eating
popcorn. What kind of snack can we have?
I like pumpkin seeds. You can toast your own and spice them any
way you want from just adding salt, to garlic, to spicy with
cayenne (another HB) etc. A variety of spices keep me from
getting burnt out on them - I need variety. If you have a health
food store, sometimes they carry them already done in the bulk
sections.

Okay, I just had breakfast. It was eggs with lots of butter and that was it.
I'm starting over.
Now what do you do for snacks here. Like if you're sitting on the couch
watching TV with your kids and they're all eating popcorn. What kind of snack
can we have?

I was wondering if you all could give suggestions on snacks. I seem to be
hungry all the time and really like to snack. What are some things you snack
on?
thanks

Hi Sherri,
Eat Right gives you the basics and the ideas of this eating plan but to put
it into REAL action, get the Live Right edition and you will be "in
business".

HI Sherri,
Welcome!! I make a trail mix out of walnuts, pumpkin seed, raisins, dried
unsweetened pineapple, dried cherries, and sometimes toss in some Rice Chex
for that crunchy effect. I don't do much grain, so the Rice Chex is a now
and then kinda thing. I LOVE the taste of raw pumpkin seed, so I don't roast
any of this. It is all organic and raw!
Best to you, and
Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii
