Recipe: Tomato Salad Dressing
Hi Sherry,
Well, right now, I don’t seem to be able to tolerate much of
anything. Except for water, Ezekiel bread toasted, and plain turkey.
(So I’m going to cook a whole friggin’ turkey this weekend so I won’t
starve to death!
Everything is making me nauseous, and I feel
like someone’s standing on me. I find it hard to believe that giving
up wheat could cause this. I mean, it’s got to be some kind of
coincidence. So, I’m leaning toward having an endoscopy done just to
make sure. I have this mental image of him getting down to my
stomach and seeing bubbling acid, like a witches’ brew. As soon as
all the tests come back, I am going to see a nutritionist my
osteopath likes. She’s holistic in her approach and will be able to
help me figure out if I need enzymes or amino acids, or what.
By the way, I read something interesting the other day. People with
irritable bowel syndrome (which I’ve had most of my life) suffer from
poor absorption of protein, and need approx. 30% more than “normal”
people. It suggests taking essential animo acids to counter this.
Interesting, no?
I’m glad they didn’t find any ulcers, and I hope you’re feeling better now.

Okay, I looked up all the ingredients on the latest food list and
Sweet Potato-Pumpkin Soup
this one looks good to go! (The oil is heated, especially for
Sherry.
1/2 quart peeled sweet potatoes, cut into chunks (HB)
1/2 quart peeled pumpkin, cut into chunks (HB)
3 cups thickly sliced leeks or onions (HB)
3 carrots, cut into chunks
3 stalks celery, cut into large chunks
2 quarts water
1 teaspoon salt, or sea salt, or salt substitute
2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
1 tablespoon caraway seeds
2 tablespoons chopped fresh tarragon (or 1/2 teaspoon dried tarragon
4 tablespoons organic flax oil
Place the sweet potatoes, pumpkin, leeks or onions, carrots, celery,
water, salt in a large pot or kettle. Bring to a boil, then cover
and simmer for 40 minutes. The soup will be lumpy.
With a slotted spoon, remove and reserve half of the carrots and
celery and some firmer potato chunks.
Puree the remainder of the soup in a blender until smooth.
Return to the pot and add the sesame seeks, caraway seeds, tarragon,
and the reserved vegetables. Stir in flax oil and serve.
Serves 8.

I don’t know if this will help anyone, but I’ve found that eating baby rice
cereal (with soy milk added) is very soothing for my stomach.

For what it is worth, before I started ER4YT I had a lot of gastritis and
heartburn. It didn’t seem to matter what I ate it happened. About a year
before I started ER I found out my cholesterol was high and I did some
reading. I found out that cayenne pepper pills and flax seed and garlic was
supposed to lower cholesterol. So I started taking supplements of these 3
items. My cholesterol was lowered a little bit, but the main thing I noticed
was that after about 2 weeks, I hadn’t had any stomach problems. After trial
and error, I found out that it was the cayenne pepper pills that had helped
my stomach (I now know that they are an HB). Everytime I start having
stomach problems and gas, I look back and I haven’t been taking the cayenne
pepper pills everyday. When I started I was taking 2 pills with every meal.
Even when I cheat (which I have done a lot lately) I don’t have stomach
problems as long as I take the pepper pills.
