feelings (new to group)

<<<Mind and feelings work together.
Hi Sherry,
Is it just me? I feel that my education and general prompting is to
disregard feelings in favor or ‘thinking’. For me, though logical, was bad
for my emotional health. Feelings are accurate in most cases, often warning
us of important news in our body or life, whatever. Ignoring the feelings is
seeing only with one eye. The logic is only one side of the picture. But i
know now to value feelings, and just temper them with my rational mind, not
stifle them.

Thyroid problem

low temp of around 96.8 to 97.3. I didn’t know low temp was a hypothyroid
symptom. My doc has never said anything about it, but I did have a thyroid
test about a year ago and it showed normal
As I understand it, there is a range of what is normal now according to my
Dr. and your body temp falls within that range. I have also had a low body
temp all my life but it is from some neurological issues I have that make my
body cold and not from thyroid. So low temp can be a symptom of a thyroid
problem or a lot of other things too. If your thyroid test was OK and you
show no other symptoms, I wouldn’t worry.

Flaxseed Oil for Baking?

Monday, May 26th, 2003

I use flaxseed oil as a salad dressing, but can I use it for baking? Or what
is the best oil for bread/cookie recipes? Also, what flour would you
recommend?

As I understand it, this is a diet for optimum health, not necessarily weight
loss although some experience weight loss as they achieve optimum health.
And my Dr. who put me on ER says everyone’s body will stabilize where is
right for them rather than based on an arbitrary weight chart or something.

fluid retention question

This once happened to me. I just had spent time sitting at the hospital with
my FIL and had gotten a severe bacterial infection without realizing it.
Visited the homeopath and had it treated, then started drinking a gallon of
water every day AFTER THE TREATMENT WAS OVER and no more problems. May sound
funny but usually the answer to fluid retention is…more fluid.

New to group

Friday, May 23rd, 2003

Hi, I’ve just joined the group and just started the diet, although I’m
taking it slow…just trying to quit wheat and dairy for now. And I’ve
added some HB foods to my diet. I’m feeling very hopeful about this.
I’m wondering if anyone knows anything about whether the diet helps with
emotional “changes”–not exactly mood swings–I don’t know what to call
them, but I can feel very strongly about something one day–a decision I’ve
made, for instance–and the next day, I feel the complete opposite. It is
happening over and over and makes it very difficult to make and follow
through on decisions. I have been seeing a therapist but she’s not been very
helpful with this. Anyone have similar experience? I don’t think I’m
schizophrenic or anything… I don’t know what’s going on, and doctors just
want to put me on antidepressants, which I don’t want to take.
Thanks for any help you can give. I’m looking forward to this new way of
eating and to this support group.
