New to group

Hi, I’ve just joined the group and just started the diet, although I’m
taking it slow…just trying to quit wheat and dairy for now. And I’ve
added some HB foods to my diet. I’m feeling very hopeful about this.
I’m wondering if anyone knows anything about whether the diet helps with
emotional “changes”–not exactly mood swings–I don’t know what to call
them, but I can feel very strongly about something one day–a decision I’ve
made, for instance–and the next day, I feel the complete opposite. It is
happening over and over and makes it very difficult to make and follow
through on decisions. I have been seeing a therapist but she’s not been very
helpful with this. Anyone have similar experience? I don’t think I’m
schizophrenic or anything… I don’t know what’s going on, and doctors just
want to put me on antidepressants, which I don’t want to take.
Thanks for any help you can give. I’m looking forward to this new way of
eating and to this support group.
Nancy S.

    Oh, Nancy!
That’s me too. To ‘just get along’, i write things down, so my plans don’t
evaporate before i get anywhere with them. This is soooo discouraging. Like
you, i think it is an organic problem. I’ve heard that glandular problems
might suggest looking into if ideas seem poorly distributed. But MY ideas
are there, its executing them that seems to ‘leak’ enthusiasm or power before
completion. But i too would love to get some follow through. You are so
right to seek help there. I wish i could help you. It’s been like that for
me a long time. But i am optimistic. There is so much to do to get well,
and all in good time, i guess. A year ago i was much worse off than i am
    now.

Take care, i’ll listen for answers on this one, with you!

    P.S. Nancy,
The diet will help. Especially losing the avoids. Wheat can affect your
mood and emotions in a negative way. Funny how we are so complex. And you
    are sure not alone………

    Wow Deb,
There’s something i vaguely noticed, ADHD or whatever it’s called, in adults,
then of course the thought went away before i got any momentum. Glad to be
reassured the diet will alleviate most of the problem. We (at least I)
relate strongly to cleaning the closet analogy, things sometimes do get worse
but then get better. Diet and nutrition in the mothers and children are
probably bringing this condition in so much these days. Back on the farm,
hard-working tv deprived children who consumed veggies and fresh air, ADHD
was not around i think. Anyway, i did recongnize the symptoms in myself, way
back when, but as i said, never got too far with being analyzed for it. So
far, medical treatment is not too enticing. The diet is my biggest hope.

Debbie, I’m curious. How long have you been on the diet? Most people are
saying they’ve lost weight fairly easily and quickly on this diet.

I have a friend who follows the diet meticulously and religiously. Says that
when she’s on the diet she’s OK but when she deviates even a little bit she
experiences some of the things you mentioned. As soon as she quits eating
avoids and starts eating HB’s, the symptoms subside.

Go go go and don’t give up. Sounds like you have plenty of attitude!!! It’s
worth finding that ‘detail’ which keeps away desired results. But if it was
me, i’d want to fix it. Keep on truckin’

New to this, but could you have a thyroid problem? (I would think the diet
would fix that, if so, but I don’t know…).

    Debbie, you said:
Now I’m beginning to wonder if *I* have a thyroid problem! I always run a
low temp of around 96.8 to 97.3. I didn’t know low temp was a hypothyroid
symptom. My doc has never said anything about it, but I did have a thyroid
test about a year ago and it showed normal.

Go ahead and take more measures, because in tests the thyroid doesn’t
register on the ‘low’ side until the thyroid is 50% impaired. Many people
complain of thyroid symptoms with a diagnosis of ‘normal’.
    good luck

    Wow Sherry,
Me too. It’s hard to believe those little wheat kernels did that.. But i
am starting to see such a big link between diet and the whole big picture.
Imagine, being mean because of bread-i KNOW it can be that way. Sheesh.

    HI!
I’m Holly from Houston, O-, and new to this group. I have no idea
what to expect, and have been on the ER4YT plan for about a week. I
had previously been on the Carb. Addict’s Diet, but it left me
feeling tired & cold (yes, even in the summer in Houston!), so I
    looked for something else.
Thus far, I feel fantastic and have far more energy than I have in
years - I’m particularly interested in what everyone does for
breakfast. As a Brit, I don’t mind fish for breakfast, but that
could become old rather quickly. Also, how everyone copes with a
    packed/sack/brown bag lunch.
    ta-ta-for-now,
    Holly.

building canteen or a restaurant for lunch.
    Boring - i.e. If I don’t find something soon…I worry I’ll wake up
one morning as a Haddock - maybe I’ve been reading too much Kafka. :) Thanks for the breakfast ideas!

Hey, new to the group. I followed the ER4YT plan for about 4 months
before I gave up. Yes I did lose weight and felt better. However,
I’m vegetarian. Are there any other vegetarians on here???
I’m vegetarian mostly due to allergies. I have allergies to beef,
seafood, and poultry. Doesn’t leave me much of a choice.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Hi. I’m new to the group & new to the diet. What we’re supposed to eat is
almost the exact opposite of what my family usually eat so am afraid I’m
finding this overwhelming. The other part of the problem is that I live in
the middle of nowhere & don’t have easy access to good food sources. Does
anyone have any tips or ideas to help me get started?

  17. Maria Jennefer Says:

This might be an obvious question, but I just bought my first loaf of
Manna Bread. Can you all check it out for me as a Type O non-Secretor?
    Brand: Nature’s Path
    Flavor: Millet Rice
Ingredients: Sprouted Organic Wheat Kernals, Filtered Water, Organic
    Millet and Organic Brown Rice
I have another question too. The bread comes in the freezer case and
when I brought it home I have kept it in the freezer. But when I want
some, it is frozen solid. I have tried sawing through it frozen as it
isn’t sliced, but it’s almost impossible. I don’t eat much very often
so I hate to thaw it very often. Any hints on how to make it more
useable? Is it acceptable to thaw it, cut it into small slices and then
refreeze the slices? I assume it is best for it to remain frozen.

  18. Barbara Lise Says:

Tom, ingredients are OK, as to the handling you really can’t do
anything else but the process will certainly damage part of the good
    stuff.
I make my bread (not Manna though), slice it and freeze it in usable
portions. Save one freezing this way.
This summer I will experiment with making my own Manna.
