Calcium

Hello Pam,
You are so worried about the Calcium. Me too. The two highest food sources
of calcium i know of are sesame seeds and kelp. Not dairy. Kelp is a
vegetable staple so you can kill two birds with one stone! I don’t eat kelp
now, but i can see myself incorporating it, now that i know about it. I get
ezekiel bread with sesame seeds on it at the HFS. And soy milk (West Soy
PLUS) has as much calcium as milk! It’s fortified.

Not to me it doesn’t. I don’t mind putting it in my cereal. I eat barley
flakes for breakfast, it is a neutral. But I didn’t like it by itself in a
    glass. Steph

    Hi everybody,
I have another question, blood tye O is suppose to take calcium, right? Well
when I take it I get really tired and sometimes a headache and my back about
where my lungs are hurts. Has anyone heard of this because of calcium? I
wonder if I should stop taking it or if there is another way of getting it
because we are not suppose to have the milk and I have rarely drank milk
    anyways.
    Thanks Again.

    Hi Deb,
What type of calcium are you taking? When do you take it? I take mine at bed
    time.

Hi CB, The Calcium I have is Calcium Magnesium made by Pioneer
(microcrystalline hydroxyapatite (MCH) and citrate malate) It says take 2
tablets 2x a day. I only took 2 a day not even the 4 that I am suppose to
    take.
    Thank You

but it seems likely since it has been proven to lower the bloodsugar levels.
I don’t know why it is present in the tablet to begin with… but
Hi, In reading the label on the bottle I have next to Boron it says
aspartate: glycinate: citrate. Is that aspertame you are talking about? I
just don’t know what to do about this I know I should be taking calcium and
this one was recommended as being very good. It also lists the calcium as
being 1,000 mg per 4 tablets (daily) and the Magneisum is 500 mg per 4
tablets. So if the magneisum is suppose to be higher as you mentioned maybe
    thats part of the problem?

that the ratio is half/half. That is what I take.

I thought that I read years ago that the calcium should be twice the
    magnesium in the pill.

Sorry been kinda out of the loop the past couple days (COOOOOOKING AGAIN) but
the calcium magnesium ratios are so critical (no I don’t know what they are
exactly–varies from person to person) because they each affect the
absorption of the other. And that’s why you don’t take them at the same time
of day as one another–something to do with the absorption rates. But you

must take them together (ie you must take both calcium and magnesium in a 24
hr period) for them to work well.

In the book Prescription for Nutritional Healing the Daily dosage for
    calcium is 1,500mg, magnesium 750 - 1,000mg , manganese 10mg and zinc 50mg.
Supplement needed for assimilation of calcium are boron, essential fatty
acids, lysine, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus and vitamins A,C,D,F.
Some comments include: Heavy exercise hinders calcium uptake. but
moderate exercise promotes it. Insufficient Vitamin D or ingestion of
excessive amount of phosphorus and magnesium also hinders the uptake of
calcium. Taking calcium with iron reduces the effect of both minerals. Too
much calcium can interfere with absorption of zinc and excess zinc
interferes with calcium absorption. calcium supplements are more effective
when taken in smaller doses spread throughout the day and before bedtime.
When taken at night, calcium also promotes a sound sleep.
I have read several different opinions on whether magnesium should be 2-1 or
1-1. It seem s to be a choice thing as the jury is still out.
    Hope this helps.

What quantity of seeds do you need to consume before you get any significant
amount of calcium? Just asking…. and then we need to know what the fat ratio
is etc etc. I don’t think it can be a staple in my diet but something to snack
on.. How does it compare to broccoli for example which has Indole 3 carbinol - a
    real plus for me.
I think we need a wide variety of foods as I am sure you will agree.. Ann
Apparently Sesame Seeds are the most potent form of absorbable calcium but I
cannot remember if these are HB or AVOID or what for us O’s.

    Brenda/Noel,
I managed to switch from coffee with cream to plain organic green tea. If
you try green tea, make sure that you only steep it for a minute or so,
otherwise the flavor is very bitter. I use the bags to make several cups
this way :-) I tried a couple of brands before I found the one that I like
    best.
    Axel,
Have you tried the seed yogurt/seed cheese recipes mentioned in Cousens’
book Conscious Eating? I was going to send in the recipes today. Is it
worth trying? I find it difficult that he doesn’t go into exact amounts. I
was originally looking for smoothie recipes for the seeds that I am soaking.

Altho I am not happy about being on synthroid and lexapro, at the moment its all
I have and it sure beats the symptoms I had w/o medication. I do not have an
alternative healer here in my area, I wish I did, So I try to read and make
myself knowledgeable about how I can help myself. I know I am weak in my back
and hips because I had a bone density tests that measures the strength. The
medicine “cocktail” is my only resource for now until I can either find a
practioner that can help me or I can become knowledgeable enough to help myself.
The Hashimotos disease is nothing to play around with, it can have serious side
effects, so I feel for now, I have no choice but to take the medication. I did
go on the Dadamo meathod of eating, and some things have improved. I am still
striving tho for better health with safer alternative medication, so all your
    answers are very appreciated.

I would really look for a good brand of minerals at your HFS (not just
calcium–the latest darling mineral) to take daily. I believe that our
bodies need a variety of minerals that are missing in our daily diets. My
chronic neck pain virtually disappeared but will come back if I forget to
take my minerals after a couple of weeks.
