Thanks to those who contacted me re my recent query on the effect of the
diet on the underweight. I can’t eat any grains at all, nor any processed
food or much in the way of fruit and my veggies need to be eaten raw. Makes
life difficult! From the messages I see passing through you all sound to be
on really scrumptious diets!
My advice for managing on restricted diets is this: just look out of the
window and imagine soldiers firing all around - just imagine trying to get
to work, get the kids to school, go to the shops with the flak going outside
… it makes me realize just how lucky I am - even though I can’t eat very
much. There are so many people around the world who have so much less. Yes
… there are an awful lot worse things in life. It works for me …
well, most of the time!
Stay fit and well,

Hi, everybody. I’m back from the Thanksgiving adventure. I went to Santa
Barbara to visit a very dear friend who has recently moved there and is
enjoying the results of her husband’s new recognition as a math and computer
genius. It’s nice to see people who have struggled for a long time finally
have it a little easier. The area around Santa Barbara is gorgeous:
mountains to the North and Pacific Ocean to the south. We visited lots of
breathtaking sites. Also all of us were sick during the week so it was
pretty low key. I needed a good rest so it was perfect for me.
I have just recovered from (please God) a very long bout of diarrhea. It
wasn’t the runs every day. That only happened maybe two days but it went on
for 5 weeks. Just watery copious and two three times a day. Very
depleting. I was tested and had no bacteria, no parasites. They gave me a
weird anti-spasmodic and nervous system depressant. Unpleasant side effects
but it did finally get it to stop (I hope).
Anybody else ever have that? Ever heard of anybody else on the O diet having

OK, how did I miss this one. Since I have printed out almost everything that
remotely resembled a recipe I am at a loss. If someone could share with me I
would be most appreciative. Thanks in advance.

You Know You Overdid Thanksgiving When….
* Paramedics bring in the Jaws of Life to pry you out of the EZ-Boy.
* The “Gravy Boat” your wife set out was a real 12′ boat!
* You receive a Sumo Wrestler application in your e-mail.
* Friday you set off 3 earthquake seismographs on your morning jog.

Hi,
I’m new to the list and am just starting the O diet because of years of
multiple food intolerances which causes asthma. My problem with weight is’t
that I want to lose any, the opposite - I simply can’t afford to lose any as
I’m already below the weight norms for my height. I can’t find anything
in Dr. D’adamo’s book about this or on the FAQ’s.
Is there any other underweight person who’s gone on the diet? If so, what
happened? I’m hoping that since the diet claims to get your metabolism
working properly it gets you to your optimum weight - i.e. either
putting it on or taking it off as appropriate. There’s nothing like hoping
is there?!
Also, what are the experiences of those who have asthma who’ve gone on the
diet?
My thanks in advance for any help from anyone!

The Body Code by Jay Cooper is a good companion to ER4YT.
The book’s premise is that genes determine your metabolic type. Each of us has a
characteristic physical appearance, energy pattern, which works to achieve a
biological balance, and a dominant gland–adrenal, ovarian, thyroidal, and
pituitary–that influences our physical appearance, personality, character
traits, and diet.
At the beginning of the book is a questionnaire you can use to determine your
body type.
Jay Cooper proceeds to explain the most compatible diet, exercise regimen, and
lifestyle for each body type.
You can determine your body type by going to Jay Cooper’s website @
www.jaycooper.com.
I fall into one of the “sleek” generic types. The diet recommended for my type
includes lots of lean protein, leafy vegetables, and monounsaturated fats. I
should avoid foods such as sweets, refined carbos, and caffeine that stimulate

Since oxalic acid interferes with calcium absorbtion I am concerned about
which foods contain this substance in appreciable quantities. As an O I
have to take special care to meet my calcium requirements. I don’t want to
down a calcium pill and impair my body’s capacity to assimilate it. Are
you with me fellow Os? Oxalic acid also interferes with iron absorption…
I know spinach has oxalic acid… what else?
