guar gum and lectin
Lectins are one of the ways that avoid foods cause the actual damage. Guar Gum
is an avoid for type O’s because it enhances lectin activity. That means, if
you eat an avoid food that has damaging lectins, eating that food at the same
time as guar gum makes the lectins all the more damaging.
Lectins are the properties that cause agglutination of blood and leads to cells
and tissues being attacked by the foods we shouldn’t be eating. It’s the same
kind of reaction that occurs when blood is transfused without correct
cross-matching. In the case of blood transfusions, the reaction can be severe
enough to cause death. In the case of dietary agglutination, it’s not usually
so dramatic.
Small amounts of agglutination is going on in your colon when you eat foods with
bad lectins in them, that may eventually lead to trouble. (I get Irritable

Dreams

Friday, February 14th, 2003

Okay. This is it!
Last night I was DREAMING about cookies!!! I had a dream about making some
after a dream about eating some with some tea.
when I was doing my religious studies, we were living in a slightly remote
area. They fed us great vegetarian food. All organic, wonderful stuff.
After three or four weeks (I am on the type O diet for just about 4 weeks)
we started having wild cravings for our old favorits junk foods, for sweets.
The local General Store served home baked cakes and other sweets and we
would walk there and back. Now we were sedentary types, usually sitting on
the floor listening to lectures. It was a 6 mile round trip walk to get
those sweets.
The dreams just brought back that memory.

Type O Diet

Friday, February 14th, 2003

Hi everybody! My name is Becky, and I’m new to the list. I’ve read email
from the list for a few days now and completely sympathize with how tough it
is to stay on this diet…For years I thought I was allergic to half of the
stuff us Type O’s are not supposed to eat. Three years ago (unbeknowst to
ME) I developed a digestive disorder–which was causing the “allergies,” and
being on this diet is one of the only ways I can overcome my disorder,
called Candida (also known Candidiosis). Does anybody else on this list
have this disorder, or does anyone know if Dr. D’Adamo has written anything
about how to apply a Type O diet to Candidia? I’d love to find out more
about ER4YT and Candida–and also to share experiences with others who have
this disorder. Thank you! Becky H.

for Diane

Diane,
You said in your message something about guar gum and lectin. Please, so I
don’t have to go through my book floundering….tell me the problems that guar
gum and lectin cause? I have been doing a colon cleans and guar gum is a key
ingredient, and Lectin????????? Never read anything about it, but then again, I
got the book and was concentrating on beneficial and avoid foods for all four
blood types, as we are not a family with one type (I have six children). My
husband and two kids are A, I am the only O, three kids are B, and one is AB.
Oh it is so much fun to find the beneficial compatible to all four types and
then to avoid the avoids for all four types HELP!!!! So all the detail
information must have gone out my head. I never concentrated on portions sizes
either, and here I thought I was doing so well. I have at least two pieces of
Ezekiel bread a day……Didn’t realize what a no no that was.
Thanks for all the info you gave…you are right, more recipes would be nice.
Thanks,

substitutions

Thursday, February 13th, 2003

For cocoa you can use raw, unsweetened cocoa powder and carob and/or
stevia for a sugar free cocoa drink.
Does anyone know what we can replace coconut milk/flavorings with? I’d
like to make some guilt-free pad thai.

Burning feet - and old books

Yes, I had forgotten about hers. I’ll try to hunt them up.
And speaking of old books, the discussions of soy products, milk substitutes,
etc. brought another one out of the back shelves. There may be new additions
by now, but my copy of “The Book of Tofu” has a 1975 copyright date and a
7.95 price sticker (also the pages are yellowing). But I am planning to make
soymilk and tofu this weekend. Haven’t done that since I was feeding
teenagers and they referred to me as “Mother, the health food nut.” A
dollar’s worth of organic soybeans will go a lot further than a dollar toward
any packaged soymilk or tofu on the shelf. Anyone feeding a family might want
