Monday, February 24th, 2003

Forgot to say that that recipe for asparagus and parsnip was for 4 - 5
people. I cut it down some and had it for dinner and luch the next day.
Yummy both times.

Welcome to this list, Klara!
I understand a little about your frustration in not being able to find some
of the recommended foods and/or products/books overseas. I grew up in
Africa, and my parents still live there. I was over for a visit about a
year and a half ago and it was difficult (or impossible) at times to find
some of the things I wanted to stay on my diet.
On the plus side, there are sometimes advantages to being overseas:
delicious foods that aren’t so readily available here, and many times,
better access to some herbs and supplements.
I guess it’s really a trade off!
Would you be able to order Dr. D’s “Cook Right” book from his web-site?
Seems as though I saw something the other day about international orders.
It’s worth a try! Go to www.dadamo.com and look for products, etc. I
believe there’s even info. about shipping overseas.
Also, there should be a ONElist like this one devoted entirely to recipes -

it will be luscious.

Foods and Why: Coconut oil, Black Walnut, Ech

Sunday, February 23rd, 2003

I think it;’s black walnuts themselves that you need to watch if you’re
overweight.
I have a question, too. The past few days I’ve really been having some
tummy problems…lots of gas and frequent loose stools. The only thing I can
narrow it down to was the raw turnips I had Wednesday. I thought these were
on the HB list. I don’t think they agree with me. It has been really
irritating and inconvenient at work.
I will have to try the squash. I’ve been enjoying the yams…our produce
manager says he can’t even get sweet potatoes right now. The yams look pretty
orange to me. In any case I can use the estrogen boost. I can’t take estrogen
in pill form…the lowest dose shot my usual 90/60 BP up to 147/88! I didn’t
want to take it anyway. So my doc says lots of soy…which I do with
pleasure!
Well gotta go take my kid to school. My this is an active mail list! Glad
I found it.

Macadamia Nuts

Sunday, February 23rd, 2003

I just checked the reasons list at Steve’s sight for Type O and Type B.
They are neutral for Os and Bs.
If you are an O and overweight or trying to lose weight, then nuts in
general are an avoid.

Hi, I am a newcomer….that is I am a newcomer in writing emails and
keeping ER4YT. I give a try. Don’t worry about my english, I’m swiss and
I am living in Australia. I bought the book after a natropath told me
about it. Why…because I have been diagnosed with a Prolactinoma, that
is a tumor in the pituitary gland, and have been told to wait and see
how this will develop. I thought I might to something about it and try
to change the way I eat. I dont know if it will help, I would have liked
to ask Dr. Dadamo but his site is closed and so I do not know if there
is anything known about that in this matter.
As I said I am Swiss and grown up on potatoes, pasta, cheese, milk and
of course coffee. Well after the first week of terrible withdraw
syndromes I managed to stay away from coffee and do quit well without
bread, cheese and potatoes. I eat a lot of stir fry with rice but that
gets a bit boring and I am looking for other receipes, such as millet or
similar. However, my bookshop has not heard anything about the Dr. D

lectins and etc.

<<<<<<<<<<<<<You know….I don’t understand why onions are highly beneficial and
yet they do have lectins. We, blood type 0’s, should avoid lectins and yet, we
can eat onions. Anybody care to explain that?
Many foods have lectins in them. But lectins come in the good variety and the
bad variety. Goods ones for type O are not the same as good ones for type A and
so on. It’s the same for bad lectins, or avoids with damaging lectins in them.
Lectins act by agglutinating your blood. Or clotting it….. It isn’t just your
blood that can be affected. Certain tissues of your body are also damaged by
lectins, such as the lining of the intestine, kidney cells, pancreas, nerve
cells and immune system cells.
They don’t just attack, they can also enhance your immune system, depending on
the bug you’ve got. Some good lectins are cancer inhibiting agents. That’s why
it’s so important to get your type right. Best chances of giving your body what
it needs to maintain good health. The literature review link at the dadamo site
gives a very comprehensive review of lectins.
