sure about the black cherry juice. I bought some that was a concentrate and
some that was bottled. I think it is a cultivated taste.
I often mix half juice and half soda water (HB). Makes it taste like soda
pop. I do it with pineapple juice and have done it with black cherry juice
and grape juice.

Hi Terry,
I make chili using pinto beans instead of kidney beans. Tomatoes are neutral
so I use canned tomatoes, and ground beef, and add some onions, carrots, and
chili powder.

<< Here is the update.
I have been cooking… ggggrins… Lots of stir fries and quick cooking,
and salads.
I broke the biscut and bread breakfast routine. I usually saute some onions
and vegies with some kind of meat and half what I cook. Part is my
breakfast
and part is my lunch. I have been eating lots of red peppers.. raw and
cooked. Usually have some plums every day, since they are still in season.
Found out that I like dried figs. Also found prewashed and prepared salad
mixes, broccoli, and carrots are a life saver for quick salads.
I have been drinking more water and even some black cherry juice. Not
sure about the black cherry juice. I bought some that was a concentrate and
some that was bottled. I think it is a cultivated taste. I found it hard at
first to break the cola habit. I find if I make a glass of iced green tea
before leaving the house I do not want it. I guess there is enough cafeen
in
the tea to help.
Occasionally I get caught in the work place with all the breads,
dougnuts, cookies and cakes people bring in. I have gotten better at
resisting them, or at least taking a small portion.
The biggest challenge is finding time to cook. I am wondering if there
are some dishes that I can prepare and freeze in servings for quick meals.
Any recipies for this would be great. Is there a way to make legal chili?
I started feeling bad the first week or so on the diet. . Guess I was
getting rid of toxins. Now I feel pretty good. I have been loosing weight.
I have lost about 12 lbs so far I think. This is a very good thing.
Thanks for all the help and encouragement.
Terry
Congratulations Terry! What a change for you. But loosing 12 pounds is
really a great reward for all of your efforts. It is not always easy, but it
is sure worth it in the long run. Most anything can be frozen. Lean ground
beef, pinto beans tomatoes, onions, and whatever legal spices you like make a
great chili. Make up a big pot and freeze the leftovers. I often freeze
cooled chili in zip lock bags. They stack easily and thaw quickly. Don’t
forget soup. Beef or turkey with the appropriate legal vegs simmered all
day. Add lots of seasonings. I save the turkey bones from Thanksgiving and
simmer for about 24 hours on low. Then strain the broth, pick the meat from
the bones and reduce further if I am not going to make soup immediately.
This stock will be thick and will freeze easily. When ready for soup, you
will have the seasoned broth immediately and just have to add vegs. Be sure
to add seaweed to the soup. Garlic and ginger are too good to miss. I am
buying a used freezer next month and will be able to freeze large batches of
soup and chili in meal sized portions. It will be nice to be able to cook
well again. Sometimes cooking for one is hard. This way I can cook for a
crowd and then have plenty for several months of cold weather ahead. Keep up
the good work.
