Ezezial Bagels

Saturday, January 25th, 2003

I am copying from the bag labeling: French Meadow Brand Organic Sprouted
Ezekial Bagels, Yeast Free. Ingredients list nothing but sprouted flours.
They are not sliced. Check bags carefully as you purchase them. They mold
easily and need to be kept in the freezer section.

***I am having trouble sending a reply so I am going to include several
items in one note ** sorry!!!
Betsy - Ezekiel bagels?!!! I thought I died and went to heaven when I read
that. I am going to Google search engine soon and see if I can get some
info. Thanx for sharing that!!!!!!!!!

Carol - What I fix for others is usually what they want (within reason), and
I also will fix something for my husband and myself. I always ask other
people if they have preferences, if there is something they don’t like, or
if they have allergies. I try to pick most things that can be prepared
somewhat ahead so that I am not cooking alot when guests arrive. Generally
people will eat beef, lamb, fish or turkey. Most people will eat
vegetables prepared in some fashion, but some people don’t like some
vegetables, so I ask.
When going out, I just ask that they don’t use corn, corn syrup or wheat and

Exercise ** Starting out easy

Friday, January 24th, 2003

On the Runner’s World web site they have some good suggestions when
beginning an exercise program.
www.runnersworld.com
One is when starting out, walk 15 minutes from your home (or 10 minutes) or
from your car if you find a nice place to walk
–in any direction–
and turn around and go back.
I have found that on days that I start exercising when I feel like it is
going to be a terrible day, if I can just get through that
FIRST THIRTEEN MINUTES, I start to feel better.
Speaking of thirteen, the rumor has it that in ancient China if someone in
the house was angry, they were to go run around there house 13 times!
Must have been an O that said that!!!

Flour

Friday, January 24th, 2003

Betsy!
Thanx for the tip re garbonzo bean flour. I acutally have some in the
refrig. that I spotted and perchased and haven’t used it yet.
Using it to sautee fish or liver or whatever is yummy sounding.
I can report that I tried lamb gravy with rice flour and it turned out
pretty good.
I normally don’t mix protein and starches. . .but hey! gravy is worth it!

Coleus Forskolii

Friday, January 24th, 2003

I have a question, if anyone might have an answer. In his book CR4YT, Dr.
D’Adamo mentions the herb Coleus forskolii for O’s who may object to eating
red meat. I myself am not too keen on the idea. He says that it can give us
some of the benefits of red meat. Okay, so I bought some. It’s in a liquid
form and calls for 30 to 40 drops in a small amount of warm water. I have
started to do this. Has anyone else taken the herb and can it be taken in
juice? The taste is really vile. The lady at the health food store didn’t
know, in fact she didn’t know that they had it on the shelf! I would
appreciate any feedback.

What to eat when visiting friends. . .

Thursday, January 23rd, 2003

I tell friends that I am hard to cook for and they ask what shall
they make:
I say: salad with no dressing and steak and/or Sashimi !
If I go to a pot luck, I always take deviled-eggs made with oil and/or
mustard and chopped greens instead of mayo and I am sure that there is a
protein there than I can eat. If I have never been to a party there
before I also include celery on that plate so there is a vegi and a protein
and I can usually manage ’til I get home.
It is hell going to a place where there are chips and guacamole and/or all
sorts of cheese and crackers and wine which I love.
I also usually make sure I eat something before I go, like almond butter
that will stick with me and then I am not so tempted.

Coffee substitute

Sunday, January 19th, 2003

Aikya -
Thanks for your suggestions. Since I am allergic to soy I have it only
occasionally on cereal or with chocolate.
The tea recipe with fennel, cumin and coriander sounds wonderful.
I do have some fenugreek tea and like that. . .perhaps I can through some of
the other into that!
I acutally like water! Seltzer and lemon or lime is luxurious for me and
chamomille tea before bed has been pretty good.
Thanx!

10 reasons I should not have coffee

Sunday, January 19th, 2003

Thanks to all who gave me input. . . this is the list I have put together. .
.not necessarily in the order which will most motivate me ;) TEN REASONS I SHOULD NOT HAVE COFFEE:
Coffee is high glycemic which spikes my insulin levels and puts a lot of
stress on my pancreas. High glycemic foods seem to cause weight gain. I
am also concerned about my sensitivity to insulin, hypoglycemia and
potentially diabetes.
Coffee is hard on my kidneys and causes me to run to the biffy (sandbox)
often.
Coffee is stressful for my adrenals and causes fatigue.
Coffee leaches calcium from my bones. My bone scan of my hip has not
improved in three years even in light of increased calcium consuption and
estrogen.
Coffee is anti-vitamin and robs my body of nutrients.
Coffee increases stomach acid and irritates my tummy and sometimes gives me
