Chlorella vs. Spirulina/Blue Green Algae
Hi,
Does anyone know why Spirulina and Blue Green Algae are to be
avoided? My wife loves the Klamath Blue Green Algae. And I take
it every once in a while. It definitely makes me more alert when I do.
I did not see Chlorella listed. Is it also to be avoided?
Also, supposedly the apple fruit is okay but not the juice? Is this
true?
There are so many other pick and choose problems I have to work
out. I am beginning to wonder if D’Adamo has gone too far. Any
feelings or facts about this possibility? I have read the FAQs, but
there is not enough hard evidence listed to totally convince me that
everything he lists is totally reliable. Like anything else we all have
to dig it out of the ground ourselves with a little help from experts
here and there.
Thanks,
Growing closer,
Daniel G. Sanchez

P.S. At fifty two years of age I started giving up meat and dairy
slowly at first but pretty much gave it up after 2 years. Now, at 57
years of age and after being on a 95% meatless diet for about 3
years I am now going to see if there is a difference. But I will only
eat the organic varieties whenever possible. Although during my
vegetarian stage, my health improved a lot, I don’t feel as if I
reached total balance, so I am trying this. Particularly since, three
years ago I was tested to be very allergic to wheat, white sugar, and
caffeine. By cutting out wheat 90%, white sugar 90%, and caffeine
98% I improved a lot. So lo and behold when I saw ER4YT and that
these were contraindicated for Type O, I was more or less
convinced to at least try it.
The Shitake and many other avoid foods are a “shock” that I have
to overcome to see if this thing works. But I am willing to try
because of a minor yeast infection that I can’t seem to get rid of,
although I haven’t tried that hard to get rid of it.

Hi Daniel, good questions.
A couple of weeks ago I found the web site with the updated food lists,
and saw the bg algae was an avoid. I’d been using Cell Tech’s algae
since ‘95 — it was the only thing that stopped my knees from aching.
I’d started having problems with that when I was 33 (in ‘93), and it was
wonderful to be able to walk & climb stairs without pain!
If I went more than 2-3 days without it the aching started again; but I
discovered just a couple capsules (250mg each) every other day kept the
pain away. I wanted to get down to the minimum amount due to the cost
AND I’d discovered that too much made me pretty tired.
All of that leads me to this: When I saw it on the avoid list, I’d been
wheat & corn free for a couple of weeks. It’s now been about 4 weeks.
When I saw BG algae as an avoid, figured I’d stop it for a while and see
how the knees reacted. It’s been 2 weeks, and they’re fine!! So I have
to believe it was the wheat and/or corn that was the problem.
Lastly, I believe I saw that spirulina was a neutral (which puzzled me
since I thought it is also a type of BG algae), and that chlorella is
unknown. I’d tried spirulina once and it almost instantly made me want
to take a nap. So I haven’t had any since. There’s a link to the updated
food list on the D’Adamo web site I believe…. hope that helps!

A bit more of a response to this ….
for the minor yeast infection, you might want to try some acidophilus.
Couldn’t hurt.
Ref. the avoid list, avoiding wheat has been pretty easy for me, since I
made the connection to that and my anxiety attacks. I’ve been anxiety
attack free for 4 weeks now, yay! And I’ve never been thrilled with
cauliflower or brussels sprouts, so those are easy for me to avoid!
I do however love pork, and found it did better in the freezer than
beef. Haven’t had any pork for a few weeks, though. And I love cinnamon;
but since I don’t use or have it that often, I may try sneaking it in
now & then and see how it goes. Or I’ll try some allspice since that’s a
neutral. He does say to implement it all gradually so I’m doing pretty
good, sticking to mostly HB’s and neutrals. Keep us posted!

This is just a guess, combined with what the book says. Under juices &
fluids, it says ‘avoid high-sugar juices such as apple juice or apple
cider.’ You’re going to get much less sugar in a single apple than you
would in a glass of juice. And the apple itself has the fiber which
probably helps slow down the sugar absorbtion.
I know when I was counting carb. grams a la Atkins, I’d sometimes have
an apple but avoided all fruit juices due to the high amount of carb’s.

Someone on this list once said that you can use cardamon (I think that is the
spelling) in place of cinnamon. It is neutral and smells a lot like
cinnamon. I bought some but haven’t tried it yet.
