Yucca and Tapioca
They list Yucca as neutral and Tapioca as occasional (used to be
an avoid).
If Tapioca comes from Yucca, would someone explain this to me.
Thanx!

On further checking, I find that “yucca” is one plant and “yuca” another.
Yuca is the tuber producing the nice starchy french fry material and is the
source of tapioca. Yucca is a different plant more medicinal and herbal in
usage. The excerpt below doesn’t seem to make the distinction. Encarta
seems to consider both types as forms of cassava.
“Two varieties of the cassava are of economic value: the bitter, or
poisonous; and the sweet, or nonpoisonous. Because the volatile poison can be
destroyed by heat in the process of preparation, both varieties yield a
wholesome food. Cassava is the chief source of tapioca, and in South America
a sauce and an intoxicating beverage are prepared from the juice. The root in
powder form is used to prepare farinha, a meal used to make thin cakes
sometimes called cassava bread. The starch of cassava yields a product called
Brazilian arrowroot. In Florida, where sweet cassava is grown, the roots are
eaten as food, fed to stock, or used in the manufacture of starch and
glucose.”

Okay here I have been bragging about being healthy and not having any severe
side effects when I cheat……well I do have one problem….since I started
this “O” ERFYT diet, I have had a lot of joint pain in my knees and hips. Never
really associated it with the diet…thought I was just getting older and that
was a consequence of aging….but the pain is getting more intense the more I
stay on my diet.
Can anyone tell me why, and what I can take for it?
Thank you ,
Debbie

Oooooo - are you sure you are an O blood type? I know I’m an O — got
tested by the doctor many years ago. When I eat according to Dr. D’s
recommendations, I feel better than I do when I don’t eat the right way.
You may have something else going on. Maybe it’s not the diet. I hope you
get it straightened out soon. LOL Carol

Debbie, What happens when you cheat? Better, worse or the same? What have
you been eating on the program that you ate little or none of prior to going
on the program? What is new in your environment? Carpet, additions, paint?
Any other symptoms? Fatigue, confusion indigestion? What is your exercise
program? I bet we can find an answer here.

Hi Debbie,
I can’t tell you why, but I have had pain in my hips lately. I don’t think
that I had it prior to the diet. I have been on the diet since March of this
year. I know I am getting older, but I wonder if there is some relationship
or if it is just coincidence????

Sharon
