Coffee substitute

Aikya -
Thanks for your suggestions. Since I am allergic to soy I have it only
occasionally on cereal or with chocolate.
The tea recipe with fennel, cumin and coriander sounds wonderful.
I do have some fenugreek tea and like that. . .perhaps I can through some of
the other into that!
I acutally like water! Seltzer and lemon or lime is luxurious for me and
chamomille tea before bed has been pretty good.
Thanx!
Fay

I have been a coffee lover for many years and tried giving it up many times in the past, trying a variety of substitute products, none of which tasted anything like coffee to me. Until now! I finally found one I like and it gives me that sense of having a cup of coffee in the morning. Its called “teeccino” by a company in Santa Barbara. Found it at Whole Foods. Is made from roasted carob, barley, chicory root, almonds, figs, and dates. Also makes great espresso, add some soy milk for a great latte! Yummy! Haven’t had real coffee for 4 weeks now, yeah!

    Lilla,

I really hate to do this to you (especially since Teeccino was my favorite coffee substitute as well), but Teeccino is now an avoid for O’s. In LR4YT, barley is now an avoid for all O’s and dates are also an avoid for non-secretor O’s.

Our only coffee substitutes at this point are:

Raja’s Cup (an antioxidant tea that tastes similar to coffee)

Dacopa (roasted dahlia syrup - similar flavor to grain based substitutes but with no grain)

Roasted Dandelion Root (thinner in body but has the added benefit of being beneficial for O’s)

With much sympathy and a cupboard full of Teeccino I no longer drink :-(
