general comment about the list. . .

Friday, January 31st, 2003

Tom,
You are most welcome!
I do try to respond individually when I can. I feel hamstrung by the fact
that I must get to a library and then find a internet computer that is
available. . .and then get done with several lists before someone breaths
down my neck or the librarian is yelling at me. (And you all thought you
could only whisper in the library!) Some weeks I get more lucky than
others.
I think the tone of this list is very supportive and I hope, even though
some times the list is not as active as others, due to changing
circumstances in peoples lives, that people will feel welcome here as I
have.
There have been times, for whatever reason, that I have had to send one
generally posted thank you to many people who have taken time to respond
with help and I felt lower than worm dirt, but I hope people will sometimes

Chlorella vs. Spirulina/Blue Green Algae

Thursday, January 30th, 2003

Hi,
Does anyone know why Spirulina and Blue Green Algae are to be
avoided? My wife loves the Klamath Blue Green Algae. And I take
it every once in a while. It definitely makes me more alert when I do.
I did not see Chlorella listed. Is it also to be avoided?
Also, supposedly the apple fruit is okay but not the juice? Is this
true?
There are so many other pick and choose problems I have to work
out. I am beginning to wonder if D’Adamo has gone too far. Any
feelings or facts about this possibility? I have read the FAQs, but
there is not enough hard evidence listed to totally convince me that
everything he lists is totally reliable. Like anything else we all have
to dig it out of the ground ourselves with a little help from experts
here and there.
Thanks,

Yucca and Tapioca

They list Yucca as neutral and Tapioca as occasional (used to be
an avoid).
If Tapioca comes from Yucca, would someone explain this to me.
Thanx!

What cuts of meat to buy . . .

Wednesday, January 29th, 2003

Hi Terry!
One of my favorite things to do is to get about 4 lbs of ground lamb and
cook it up in garlic and olive oil as patties and freeze them individually.
Leg of lamb does great in the crock pot for about 6 hours on low. . .do not
overcook.
Also, the “shredded” long flat strips of sirloin tips saute up in olive oil
(and garlic!) very well.
I like to buy large roasts and do them on low in the crock pot.
Rib Eye steaks and Fillet are amoung my favorites.
If you don’t want to risk ground hamberger, you might try ground sirloin.
Has a good flavor. So do T-bone steaks.
I usually take one day every week or two or three and do all of the meat,
wrap in up individually and freeze it.
The I “nuke” in the microwave for 1 minutes and throw it under an ice bag in
my little cooler for traveling around town.

“cleansing program”

Wednesday, January 29th, 2003

Hi Carol!
The only cleansing program, if one can call it that, in recent years that I
have done is the olive leaf extract and also eliminating dairy from my diet.
Speaking of coffee, I am starting to view other people’s cups of coffee like
an orphan looking through a window at Thanksgiving dinner.
(I can’t remember who wrote that nice turn of phrase. . . .)
I do **feel better** for not drinking it and now that I have been away from
it for a week, I can tell than before I felt “drugged”!
Boy golly gee whiz I sure miss the taste.
I tried the Celestial Seasoning Green tea and liked it better than the other
that I tried. It says it contains caffeine. Why is it a neutral instead
of avoid? Does anyone know?
Thanx!!

Bagels

Tuesday, January 28th, 2003

Hi Betsy!
Thanks for the info on French Meadow Bakery Ezekiel Bagels.
They are the same place that made the kamut bread that I found. I will try
to call them to see where they distribute bagels in my area.

meat, flax, coffee, success

Monday, January 27th, 2003

Hi All
New to this list and ready to post. I’ve been eating right since last
Thanksgiving and very happy I found the book. I lost about 8lbs without
trying and am steadily loosing more. The first thing I noticed was an
immediate gain in energy. Instead of sleeping 12 or more hours a night
(and taking naps to boot) I now feel rested with just 8.
I’m off the prescription allergy meds and getting pretty good results
with Stinging Nettle. (found a cheaper source at GNC, 500mg, 90
capsules, two bottles for about 14 bucks.)
Off zoloft too and getting good results from the catechol O but haven’t
found an affordable substitute yet (any tips greatly appreciated.)
My constipation is gone, might be due to stopping the antihistamines
and/or the diet. I am not bothered by indigestion any more (unless I
cheat and have dairy or coffee.)
When I first started the transition to eating right, I had to give up a

Meat Shopping Infomation needed.

Sunday, January 26th, 2003

This may sound like a silly question.. but here goes. What kind of cut of
beef should I buy? What is good… What is not? Should I be buying
different cuts for different dishes? What should I buy say.. for stir fry.
Since I am cooking for one, it seems hard to buy the right portions. Sure
would appreciate some advice if you have the time.
Thanks,
Terry

food costs

Saturday, January 25th, 2003

Thanks Janet,
Everyone has given me a lot to think about. I’m going to stick with it.
My husband goes in for GERD surgery next week. He thinks then he will be
able to eat anything he wants and not have a problem. And that’s why he
doesn’t want to continue on the plan (aside from the money aspect) Are all
A’s so strong willed?

Immune System

Saturday, January 25th, 2003

Dear Bibi..I wrote about the immune system cure book..I’ve been doing ER4YT-O
since June 98 and found that I had immediate changes(within a week) and I’ve
been amazed throughout the year at the ways foods affect me. I have severe
RA and my pain levels are dramatically good or bad sometimes within 20 mins
of eating…I am a diehard believer in blood type diet. I’ve been researching
the RA and have come to feel that there is another piece to this puzzle…the
immune system..this book for the first time clarifys what has happened to the
cells and educates you on sterols and sterinols..plant substances that
directly promote the deficient cells to produce and replenish themsselves to
be in balance with other cells…so I’m on day five of the sterinols and was
told it could increase pain for a week or so but don’t stop..so my first day
was a nightmare I was glad to wake up from..next day dramatic change in my
recovery..ie..getting out of bed, standing and walking..has been taking me
30-45mins and on my second day of the sterinols it took me 10 mins. My pain
has changed from sharp shooting pain when I try to walk to more like a
